Round 4: Hurricanes v Waratahs, Friday 17th March

Wtf were those arms tackles from Gleeson and Hooper. Also jumping across the line out and a forward pass from the base of the line out?

    SR2023 R2 - Waratahs vs Drua - Saturday 4 March @ 7.35pm

He said that he’s hey we’re working on physicality / size in the preseason and that they’d play into fitness. Its quite noticeable for a few players - Sinclair has really grown in the upper body and actually has a bit of a gut, despite previously being a pretty low impact / light player who...

    Waratahs 2023

Problem is these kids are raring to go and often get dismayed if they can't get a chance. Someone should get Jack Maddocks on the phone with him. He's recently commented in the press he was rushed into Super / the Wallabies before he was physically ready for it. The message probably is...

    Wallabies 2023

There is this unbelievable entitlement in Australian rugby that I feel is somehow tied to the private school roots of the game. Why should we not have to compete - like everyone else does - for the best talent? If schoolboys take six figure contracts with a NRL team out of school while we...

    Wallabies 2023

I think Swinton just offers an edge of physicality that we don't get from other options -- e.g. Leota or Holloway. That said, I don't think Swinton is a clear frontrunner. I'd take a horses for courses approach with him and Holloway, depending on whether we need mobility or grunt. My squad was...

    Wallabies 2023

Following on from Braveheart, my Wallabies squad -- assuming that they open selection to all international players, which I assume they'd be mad not to: Front Row -- Ala'alatoa, Slipper, Bell, Tupou, Sio, Robertson Hooker -- Latu, BPA, Porecki Second Row -- Skelton, Frost, Philip Openside --...

    Wallabies 2023

One thing I'm really impressed with is his conditioning. Size isn't everything, but a great big player beats a great small player 99% of the time. If I saw someone like Tom Banks on the street in Sydney, I wouldn't even know that he was a professional rugby player, let alone a Wallaby. Mark N (Nawaqanitawase)...

Wallabies v Wales, Principality Stadium, Sun 27th November, 2.15am AEST

I’ve seen this “Philip isn’t physical enough” narrative here a lot recently. My own eyes tell me he’s the most physical of the domestic second rowers. Do I need a trip to the optometrist or the psychiatrist?

Wallabies v Wales, Principality Stadium, Sun 27th November, 2.15am AEST

I loved what I saw from Edmed this season at the Tahs. Seems to be more assertive than Harris and Donaldson and plays a more mature game, but potentially less exciting than either of them. It’ll be interesting to see how the Tahs fit all 3 this year.

Wallabies v Wales, Principality Stadium, Sun 27th November, 2.15am AEST

One thing I found interesting from the game, with respect to Rennie's comments that he likes Wright / preferred Foley over Lolesio as Foley 'has a voice' in the team: Ikitau is becoming increasingly vocal with his role in the team, which continues to speak volumes about how important he is for...

Wallabies v Wales, Principality Stadium, Sun 27th November, 2.15am AEST

It’s pretty common for a young player in his run on debut to be a bit too eager, and I think that might’ve been why he got caught out. Rushing up too fast or wanting to absolutely thump someone when it’s not on can cause you to slip off tackles or outright miss them. He’ll be better for it. I...

    Wallabies 2023

Is that even a bad thing? As it stands, our Super franchises salary structure pays the vast majority to a few key players per team and then the rest of the squad is on peanuts, not even including our Wallaby top ups. They then lock down positions in our squads that developing players...

The French don't play with French refs. Explains it all really.

We are bad, but we are second worst. No one is a bigger moaner than Rassie. I swear he secretly hates coaching and is aiming to get himself fired or banned from rugby for life.

    Wallabies 2023

Having watched the French beat South Africa, it's really obvious how both teams rely on their systems - and not individual players (with the exception of Kolbe) - far more than we do. The game plans are pretty similar -- kick intelligently for territory, chase hard and play in the right part of...

Wallabies v Scotland, Murrayfield, Sun 30th Oct, 3.30am AEDT

Don't know what all the grumbling is about -- I watched the game at lunch today and enjoyed it. The first half was great, but I will concede the second half dragged a bit. Very happy with the win there, and I don't think it was undeserved. Also very happy with Pearce, which was incredibly...

    Australian Rugby / RA

The thing he doesn't understand is that I fundamentally want the Rebels in the competition way more than I want the Crusaders. Maybe we should chop them? I would prefer to watch the Rebels vs. the Brumbies FAR MORE than watching the Crusaders vs. the Blues.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Not sure if I could find 4 people my age in Sydney that all watch rugby union. Even those that do I wouldn’t jump willingly into a friendship with. Maybe says something about me.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

As a 27 year old in Sydney, most Saturdays I'll have either a friends birthday, an event, or a family commitment. It's very, very hard to catch a Wallabies game given this as most of Australia simply don't care. My AFL-loving friends don't really have this problem, as entire friendship circles...
