Canberra Vikings - Offical NRC Team Thread

I've got no issue with the ARU blocking that move. We need as much talent present and available for the NRC as possible. The fact that the Brumbies were looking to do this shows little regard for the NRC a structure we have needed for a long time and now that we have it. A structure we all have...

    The Official Shield Thread.

I like the image. Very apt. As for my names suggestion. You'd probably know better than I but wouldn't it be possible to have actually printed on the back as part of the shield or will that make it to cost prohibitive.

    The Official Shield Thread.

I was thinking on the back. I was just referencing an earlier conversation on the thread re:Shawn McKay. 'The Spirit of Rugby Shield', yeah not bad.

    The Official Shield Thread.

Have you thought about the incentives to contribute to the kickstarter campaign. May I suggest for contributions of $50 or more you have your name imprinted on the shield. Promote the idea of community. I think I remember the idea of it being named after Shawn McKay. Could be called the 'Shawn...

    The Official Shield Thread.

Yeah. I'll pony up some for the kickstarter but I really need some details on the actual design because for $15k I'm assuming it's going to be a work of art.

If the Vikings don't win with that squad then they should fold before next season. How are any of the NSW teams supposed to compete with that.

Western Sydney Rams . NRC Official Team Thread

BJ Hartman is another interesting pick up.

Five missing from my count. Good to see Rohan Saifoloi back. He'll provide a real attacking edge to the backline.

    Rebels 2016

You'll get no argument from me there. Prior to last season I had been lamenting the canning of the ARC.

    Rebels 2016

Well it is 4th tier Rugby (where it rightly should be).

    Rebels 2016

I was kidding. I know it takes time to elevate standards. It's okay.

Then you lot down south need to get cracking on the Dewar Shield so it becomes a primary talent source. Frankly, it doesn't bother me. The only issue is whether it's sustainable long term.

    Rebels 2016

I've only seen him at 15. But his has the skills to play 12 and is a very solid defender. With him now heading south the Rebels are going to have quite a sizeable backline.

    Rebels 2016

Lane would be a good pick up. He, Horwitz and Angus have been the stand out playmakers this season. He and Horwitz are at the same level and should be actively chasing opportunity to move forward.

    Rebels 2016

From what I've seen on TV. He kicks a ball probably longer than anyone else running about. He's got good size and skills etc. Certainly set for higher levels. Overall, a good pickup.

Western Sydney Rams . NRC Official Team Thread

Rams have merchandise up this season. Hoodies, Polo's and training jerseys. I actually quite like the training jersey. Would make a good game day jersey.

Sydney Stars . NRC Official Team Thread

You would like to assume that they have learnt from last season. The Stars were the best illustration of the gap between club rugby and the NRC. For the sake of their viability hopefully they're looking a little further afield this season.

Western Sydney Rams . NRC Official Team Thread

It's going to have to be. Looking at the Risings squad although not quite as strong as last season it's still going to be tough to beat.
