Jarryd Hayne signs with Fiji Sevens

Given all the departures (and returns) its quite hard to come up with the 25 players or so who will be on a top up for next year....

Could is fine..... The second part is where you lose me. Hooper had twice the rucks involvements as James Haskell did in Melbourne. 38 v 20 (kudos to whoever produced those great stats ;) ) Does anyone think Hooper had a better game than Haskell?

Is he playing against the same opposition, using the same game plan as in 2015?

That's fine - but coaches clearly disagree with you. To use Hooper as an example there are times in games where he does not compete as much as a traditional 7 would in offensive rucks. His coaches are directing him to stay out to provide attacking options. They feel he provides more value to...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

[ This is where I get hung up too, and it's why I have no optimism for rugby over the long term in this country - I think we will essentially have no international players in our domestic leagues in the medium term, and hence will be picking all Wallabies from OS. We can get to that position...

    The Wallabies Thread

Force Fan does amazing work collating these stats but surely all they tell us is how each super rugby coach uses each player in their individual game plans. It's interesting data, but it's a mistake to use them to compare players. They are all part of different systems and are performing...

    Rugby TV Ratings 2016

Just had a look - for the games I have recorded.... Average is slightly up on last year - at low 60s per game. Disclaimer is that more games haven't made the top 20 cutoff this year Edit - should also mention some Sunwolves games are appearing this year as well as aussie and kiwi games

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

The problem being that the ARU make the bulk of their money from the Wallabies, not the Super Rugby teams. The national team subsidise the other pro teams. (See the 2012 annual report for details under the previous TV deal - they haven't split the current one as far as I know, so it's...

Reds v Rebels - Battle of Pride - Friday the 15th of July

If you are going to play rookies, you are going to get rookie mistakes..... All I'm saying is it's unfair to blame players in those situations. It's a coaching and selection problem. But we all know that already.

Reds v Rebels - Battle of Pride - Friday the 15th of July

Pretty tough to drop your rookie 10 in his second game for that. How many clearances from his own line do you reckon he's had in his entire career? If that's the standard you're going to set it's going to be hard to put a team out

Gill goes over after the best period of the match for the reds. Too much pressure after 4 penalties in a row from the rebs 24 - 14
