    The Wallabies Thread

I'd like us to abandon playing two short back rowers. One thing I'd like to see is for us to return to having a best-in-the-world set piece. I don't think that's achievable in the scrum at present, but it potentially is in the lineout. I'd also like bigger bodies that can start making an impact...

    The new Wallaby jersey

I'm glad they are making the effort. Far more needs to be done to engage the indigenous community (yes, yes - and the rest of us). For what it's worth, I like the jersey too - although given my fashion sense, that's probably a bad sign.

    Reds 2018

Haha - no. But most kick-chase metres is not really a stat any of our players actively pursue.

    Reds 2018

Yeah - but then you get into other areas like poor kicking, poor kick chase, dropped ball & poor counter attack etc and you have to say it is not just one of our coaches failing us.

Can't see Douglas being called in myself. Will Naivalu be fit for the first AB test? In note a few people are picking him - and I would too - but I thought he was out.

Force Vs Waratahs, Round 17 - Saturday 15th July, NIB Stadium

You can't expect them to play expansive rugby with all that dew.

Ready was really good last year - at least for the first 3/4 of the year. This year, not so much. Maybe he should head to the Force.

I was going to respond with LOL - but it is really not funny. I'm concerned it's going to be accurate though. I understand systems take a while to bed down, but surely Grey can't be stupid enough to think if we stick with what he is trying to achieve it is going to come good.

    The Wallabies Thread

I've been thinking of Meakes purely as a 12. If Hunt is out, I'd have him straight in. But didn't he play 13 at Gloucester? Maybe he's our solution there. I'd hope Kerevi will fill one if the centre positions soon enough, but his defence remains an issue (and I'm assuming he'll be fit). I like...

    Reds 2018

Fuck - is it to early to start the Reds 2019 thread. It's like the Reds and Cheika are trying to outdo each other. What's the next level after unmitigated?

    The Wallabies Thread

I disagree Redshappy. It is about both. Nowhere in my post did I defend the current coaching regime at either State or National level. A lot of our ingrained problems are clearly not being addressed or are openly promoted by poor coaching. But where is personal responsibility in all this...

Sio TPN Ala'alatoa Arnold Coleman Timani Hooper Higgers Genia Foley Folau Hunt Kerevi - although that will probably be a disaster with Grey as defence coach DHP Beale Either Latu or Moore Smith Kepu Carter RHP Powell Rona Hodge

I'd add RHP, and either Louwrens or Ruru. Or both. I'm still not sure Ruru is ready, but then I keep asking myself which other half looks better.

And this is the nutshell of Australia's problems with regards to selections. We are choosing between options on the basis of which weakness we can tolerate the most. Activity vs impact, effort vs execution; and the pros/cons of being part of a squad that has achieved well below what we would...

    Western Force 2017

I just want to add my congrats to the Western Force, and beyond that the wider WA rugby community on how they are growing & promoting the game. And also their coaching panel - it is funny how when some actual thought and consideration is given to putting together a coaching team how they can...

Force Vs Waratahs, Round 17 - Saturday 15th July, NIB Stadium

To be honest Scooter, I think the far bigger issue is what they are doing with the talent they are getting.

    Waratahs 2018

    Well, that escalated quickly.

It's unrealistic BR. They aren't going to blood a heap of rookies against the ABs. I also wonder how much is those players, and how much the environment. Folau was pretty good in the June series. Hooper does look tired to me, but he is probably sick of carrying the rest of the Tahs forwards...

    The Wallabies Thread

Let's not get too carried away. We need to pick our best side - and that will include Hooper, Foley, Folau & Kepu from NSW as a minimum. Plus Beale. Beyond that though, I do think there are better options then Robertson, Hanigan (at the moment) and Phipps. Can't think of anyone else who would...
