don't know the structure of it, all it said was this: Still, he (Clarke) probably will arrive on the same day as the rescue cheque for around $17m, with re-elected chairman Bill Beaumont apologising for its delay because of the World Rugby elections.

A Fox publication ran a story saying something like ‘with Optus seemingly withdrawing itself from negotiations’, after Castle resigned. My read on it was that they suspended the negotiations due to the virus and/or RA not having a CEO, others interpreted as Optus not willing to deal with anyone...

Sharpe of course was instrumental with the Force, Little moved to NSW late in his career to commence the post-rugby stage of his career. I don’t think anyone can argue these two and Moore don’t value Queensland rugby. It’s probably equally as pertinent, maybe more so, to point out the number...

Carroll has now apparently withdrawn his interest in the job, although it reads like he is just committing to the AOC for the next 3 months. In better news the $16m from WR (World Rugby) is apparently coming today.

I think you need to do a bit more research into the 10 captains. McCall, Little and Sharpe are all Queenslanders, add Moore that’s 4/10. The only ones who played for NSW are NFJ, Kearns and Poidevin, both of Smith and Mortlock are from NSW but never played for the Tahs. And Gregan is true...

I’m sure I’m not the only one that this is making no sense to. The heads of all the states ex NSW say they support the board and McLean, but they don’t support captains picks basically, however the dialogue clearly shows McLean and Wiggs collaborating on said captains picks. So who’s authority...

And Fairfax are reporting that Carroll is still interested, saying it’s not a career move and depends on who the chairman is. He is ok for that to be McLean. My read on this is he genuinely wants to help the code get on the right track but needs to be working with the right board. So get your...

Rob Clarke has been appointed interim CEO

I actually wondered if that had more to do with Wiggs' resignation than himself not being chair. I think it's important to note that not all of the email exchange was included in the news article. Journalists do like to quote things out of context to add drama..

Yes was in the Oz yesterday.

    Australian Rugby / RA

Yes, although it sounds like no one from RA other than Wiggs had approached Carroll. Whatever way you look at it it's all very amateurish. Hopefully they have at least put the recruiter on hold and commenced their own discussions with Carroll.

    Australian Rugby / RA

True, but as I read somewhere yesterday the board should know what they are looking for in a CEO and if the ideal applicant is staring them in the face then just grab him. Sure, go through the process of due diligence on him to cover all bases, but there’s no need to employ a recruitment firm...

So this opens the door for McLennan to step in and find his feet, McLean will hang around for a bit longer, perhaps Herbert into the interim CEO role and let's see what now happens to Carroll. He sounded pretty enthusiastic about it yesterday, at least with Coates acting as his mouthpiece.

Who is leaking the emails though?
  15. KOB1987

    Australian Rugby / RA

Rugby Australia board member Peter Wiggs has tendered his resignation after an explosive email exchange with RA’s interim chair Paul McLean last night. The Australian has obtained the email chain where McLean writes to Wiggs saying his “closeness” to Matt Carroll, the current Australian Olympic...

    Australian Rugby / RA

If true I'd say it's more likely because RA is about to go belly up and he wants to distance himself from it than it has to do with a Zoom meeting stoush.

    Wallabies 2020

White is stuck in the UK at the moment and I think it’s been stated that Gordon is one of the 3 Tahs. My understanding is that this virtual squad is based purely on form to date, incumbent players out of form like Beale have been told they currently aren’t in consideration, and some uncapped...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

It’s not a bad way to ease the players back into it but it would be necessary for a couple of rep fixtures prior to the Bledisloe to see where everyone is at, could just be Probables v Possibles. Or just a 4 way round robin with the franchises, and select 2 teams after that. E.g A front row, B...

Maybe Hamish Blake crashed it? It was a Zoom meeting after all.
