ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

Most go on to play colts. Many cannot cope with being a small fish in a big pond.

I don't believe SU should get a gig as a solo entry as the expense of any SS clubs. But if there are 4 Sydney teams, and no SS clubs that are willing to partner with others miss out, then where is the harm?

    Shute Shield 2014

I assume Perth and Melbourne players would stay,as opposed to coming back and playing fir their SS aligned side. I would have thought that was where the ARU might have to flex it muscles to ensure the outposts remain suitably manned. I would have thought the Brisbane based sides might be tough...

So what would happen to Souths,Easts & the Wicks if SU stood alone?

That's not what I was talking about at all. What about when Blake or Kava get the coaching gig, tell a bench player they are being held back at the Club they currently play for? Or maybe the outside back that sees little ball at his weaker club, and his new T3 team mates work on him to join them...

How are the Wicks any different to Uni? A team in conjunction with that Rugby powerhouse UNSW? Please! If either of these clubs do not submit joint venture bids with other SS clubs, they should miss out entirely.

    Shute Shield 2014

Yeah I did read somewhere that the ARU would be allocating the pro's to each new franchise, but can't recall where. I would expect the majority of players would be assigned to their junior clubs, however Perth and Melbourne players might be the main group that are allocated to where the ARU sees...

I'm not sure about Uni. If Pulver is going to allocate Super players to each new T3 team, then Uni is just another club. Prior to the return of Super players, they are not a standard deviation above the rest. I'm pretty confident that North Harbour & a combined side from the rest of the comp would...

That's an interesting question for all clubs in the SS,not just prospective Uni partners. No matter which clubs combine, there will be dominant partners,in terms of balance sheet and playing strength. Without quotas or something similar, the junior partners will end up being absorbed by the more...

    Shute Shield 2014

It's going to be interesting! From say,a Gordon POV why should they subsidise 25% of the costs if none of their players are gaining any benefit/experience from this new entity? And from a Manly POV why should one of their guys miss out on quota grounds? They are going to need the wisdom of...

    Shute Shield 2014

The agreement between the Northern Sydney clubs seems interesting. The Gordon website indicates there will be equal numbers of players from each of the clubs and there will be a strict non poaching agreement between them. How will they deal with say Manly players who misses out on the T3side, on...

Why, because it is tarnished by those awful League types that usually play there? Brookie is a great venue to watch footy. I have been to North Sydney oval a few times for a night game,I am still trying to find a good vantage point to watch the game, and either my eyesight is going or the lights...

The question about what teams should be answered by knowing the objective of the comp. If the principal objectives are to develop talent at a low cost. Then expansionist teams like Perth & Adelaide do not meet these objectives. IMO, they should concentrate on fielding teams where the talent...

This is the bit i don't understand. He seems to infer that all coaches and players will be obligated to play for a new team for another 10 or so weeks for no additional compensation. There would be an uproar if 1/2 of the teams were coached by the incumbent super coaches, level playing field and...

Clubs can either submit an EOI in their own right,or in partnership with other club/s. I heard Pulver on the radio earlier today, almost confirming there will be North & South Brisbane sides. I doubt the ARU would approve more than one stand alone Club from Sydney.

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2013

You are wrong about the cattle IMO. Look at all the kids that competed at the Oz Nationals at Riverview. Many of those kids were the raw product, holding their own against some kids who train 8 -10 times a week. Put them all in the same program for two years and see how the pecking order...

Wallabies to play Great Britain Rugby League team.......... ugh.........

Good point. The hybrid game as it has been played thus far,is Rugby in ong half of the field, and Mungo in the other, with a time limit on each possession phase. For example you play Mungo in your half, and as soon as you go over 1/2 way you play Rugby rules. Sounds disjointed, but the Schoolboy...
