Wow, where does that leave Izzy. Would Forrest be interested in setting up a WSR team in Adelaide I wonder?

    Proposed Nations Championship

Ok. I think we get that at the RWC. I am not convinced that a mini WC every year or two is what the rugby world needs. Japan would probably be another example of where special dispensation needs to be put in place. Not likely to regularly contest for a top 6 spot in either hemisphere, but...

But then there is no guarantee that the promoted side(s) are in the top 12 in the world. Two best tier 2 sides might be USA and Georgia for example. But if one misses out because Tonga has to be promoted in the South then the basis for the competition is being compromised.

How about the gamble that someone like Hanigan will ever reach test match standard when he is still well short after something like ten tests and a couple of years in the Wallabies' system. I would put my money on Fardy being the lower risk despite his age and walking stick.

D you seem to be reading these posts with your eyes shut. There are many comments on here speculating about Fardy's availability for the RWC, and I don't remember posting any one of them.

    Brumbies 2019

I think the TH side is adequately covered atm with AAT, Makin and Ross as a development prospect. I don't think Taula is quite up to NRC standard so would be lacking at Super level, and he is getting on. The LH side is not covered well atm with the loss of both Mayhew (who was excellent off...

    Proposed Nations Championship

Omar, if there is promotion/relegation, then in time the makeup of the pools will change from being one North and one South. Let's say that the South pool starts with NZ, Aus, SA, Argentina, Fiji, Samoa. Samoa would likely face relegation after the first tournament and if promotion is earned...

RC5: Springbokke vs Wallabies @ PE

Cully's selection considerably weakens the Forwards pack and really goes back to times in the past when used and failed to set the platform to win test matches. A backline that consists again of the two poorest defenders in the squad plus one very suspect defender in the most important defensive...

Looks like it's time to put to bed the notion that Scott Fardy might return to save our RWC hopes. http://www.rugby.com.au/news/2018/09/23/one-percenters-september-23

NRC Rnd 4: NSW Country v Canberra Vikings

Great post Slim.:( Good finish by JJH but the try could have been scored by any of the three players on the overlap. If you'd like to make a worthwhile observation, how did you think Simone went at 13? Bit of a mixed bag imo. Showed how strong he can be in traffic by busting tackles and...

NRC Rnd 4: NSW Country v Canberra Vikings

NSW Country on top at half time, 14 - 0. One penalty try and a good backline move for a try by Newsome. Referee Murphy has some very unique rulings at scrum time. In a series of scrums on the Vikings' 5m line, which led to the YC for Sione Taula and the penalty try, the Vikings on one occasion...

RC5: Springbokke vs Wallabies @ PE

I would be as surprised as you if Cheika goes with anything but Hanigan, Hooper and Pocock. My post was about my preferred selections, not what I think Cheika will do. Cottrell is listed at 1.91m and 105kg. Certainly bigger than any of Hooper, Samu or Pocock. He has been an excellent jumper at...

NRC Round 4 Melbourne Rising v Brisbane City

Good for you Dru. But when compared with the Qld Country/Force game, it was chalk and cheese. EDIT : BTW what game were you actually watching? The YC was to a Rising Lock. In the absence of anyone posting the details, I will record my estimate of the penalty count for the game. Brisbane City...

RC5: Springbokke vs Wallabies @ PE

Wouldn't lose anything in the lineout with Cottrell. Very good jumper. And more impact in open play than Hanigan. Would really like to see 6 Cottrell, 7 Pocock, 8 Timu.

NRC Round 4: Queensland Country v Western Force

A good quality game where both sides played with intent and skill. How good is Prior's goal kicking this year. That was the difference in the final score - no misses to one miss. Some good matchups. Deegan better than Stewart. Lee-Warner best lock on the field. Harry Lloyd bested Slipper in...

NRC Round 4 Melbourne Rising v Brisbane City

Not an inspiring game by any means. Most disappointing aspect was the performance of the referee. What did the penalty count finish up at? I didn't count, but from observation it must have been in the vicinity of 20 to Brisbane and maybe only 4 or 5 to the Rising. Yet I saw a few instances of...

That job FP should be reserved for Cheika. Can't afford to pay him out, promote him and get some change into the Wallaby coaching setup asap.
