    RC4 - Australia v Argentina

I think Tupou will be a doubtful starter against the Argies. Even if passed fit, I think he should be rested for this game to give his neck time to get over the pounding it took on the weekend. Poey straight back in if fit, but the back row should then be Tui, Pocock, Samu (or Timu). And yes...

Australia vs South Africa 8th September

I have no problem with Rodda being rated as one of the three or four best locks atm but if he continues to improve in the manner he has since the U20s, then in two years time he will be definitely one of the best.

Thanks Slim, for that little gem. My question was how many were scored while both Foley and Beale were on the field together.

And in that same time frame (correct me if I'm wrong) but the Wallabies also didn't score a point. 0-0 has to be seen as a pretty good result for them I suppose.

And now we have the Toombeley. The Wallabies will always give up more points than they score with both Foley and Beale there at the same time.

    Refereeing decisions

It is usually for Losing the Bind I believe, but in probably a majority of cases the penalty goes against the man standing up even if he has retained his bind as Marx seems to have done here. But both Faf and the No 8 are doing things that could/should have been penalised.

    The Rugby Championship 2018

Why is Mounga defending on the wing? Made to look very ordinary last night on a couple of one-on-one tackle situations.

Australia vs South Africa 8th September

Correct. I can understand TPN returning because if FF (Folau Fainga'a) failed the test, then TPN would stay on to complete the front row. But how did Rodda get to come on for Rory. Had Rory failed his test, then what would have happened to Rodda. Would he have been required to leave the field? If it had been...

Australia vs South Africa 8th September

No, but he failed to get into position a few times to make the tackle to stop a line break.

Australia vs South Africa 8th September

The second half effort by the Wallabies was a lot better than the first. Genia was better and Samu was better and Tui was better. Whether they were better because the team was better, or vice versa, I don't know. But Will was really slow getting the ball out of the breakdown area in the first...

Australia vs South Africa 8th September

A lot of mistakes by DHP tonight. Missed tackles and poor decision making with the ball. his biggest though was his failure to catch the desperate Saffa clearing kick near halfway which then was taken uncontested by the Saffa winger. Inexcusable.

Australia vs South Africa 8th September

And exactly what might have happened to cause Marx to pop? The Wallabies' front row all look to be legally bound and pushing straight. Maybe it was the power of Pocock even though he didn't play? Come on Dan, just admit for a change that the refs (and especially Jackson) get a lot of scrum...

Australia vs South Africa 8th September

Scrum became instantly much better and actually dominated when Fainga'a replaced TPN. Must be getting close to being the starting No 2. DHP particularly poor game tonight.

Having a poor game. Should have been behind Maddocks and assisting him to stay in field and heading for the tryline, but instead over ran the contact and added nothing.

NRC RD2: Sydney Rays vs Canberra Vikings

Too many short comings for a Super Rugby player, and quite ordinary at No 12 in NRC. Though I do think he'd offer more as a 10.

NRC RD2: Sydney Rays vs Canberra Vikings

I'm guessing the reason he was late called into the Wallabies squad will be on the game thread, and I'll go looking in a little while. However, McCauley did a good impression of him for most of the game; no impact in either defence or attack, until he got into the clear and easily outpaced JJH...

NRC RD2: Sydney Rays vs Canberra Vikings

Quite a few areas where the Vikings can yet improve, and they will need to if they want to be in the running for the finals. First, they need a proper No 7 fetcher who can at least put pressure on opposition ball at the breakdown and win three or four turnovers per match. Oakman-Hunt isn't a...

Australia vs South Africa 8th September

I don't think losing Folau is as great a problem as losing Pocock, but things are unravelling a bit more than I'd like to see. There was quite a bit of change (which I applaud) for this game anyway, but now with these unwanted and unplanned withdrawals on top, it must be moving the scales of a...

Australia vs South Africa 8th September

I'd disagree about Samu being better than Timu at No 8. Probably at No 6 which is his natural spot, but No 8 is Timu's spot.
