    Rebels 2021

Possibly they have loosened the rules for the AU comp this year, and I know movements are (were) allowed when there were long term injuries, can also pluck players out of clubland for one off coverage, etc. I don't think the number of players on their websites mean a lot though. There must be...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Agree completely, the current Super Rugby model is both structurally and financially unviable. A new competition, either domestic or TT, that is backed by PE would hopefully be viable in both regards, and thus get that clear air to grow.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

^^^ he is only excluding the Wallabies in the context of private ownership though isn’t he? I think if we fix the tier below and can keep and develop our players, then the flow on effects for the Wallabies will be huge. Although we are currently ranked 7th in the world we are really only a...

    Rebels 2021

Serious question - how come the rebels keep signing new players whereas the other franchises seem to be bound by the 35 player squad rule and a salary cap?

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Yes, we're happy to host. There are signature NRL and AFL games on the day, and until recently I think Tahs and Brumbies used to play on the closest Saturday (or was that Easter Saturday?). The closest Saturday would be the day to do it, once every 7 years the Kiwis would just have to suck it...

That might have changed by July 10 given one of the Melb protesters tested positive for covid today.

    Australian Rugby / RA

Absolutely. Also says they are talking to South Africa. No mention of the kiwis, the inference being that it’s a domestic comp they are going to do the feasibility study on.

It sounds like the investment will be in the second tier competition, not a buyout of the code per se. The biggest benefit would be that we would keep our players here.

Been a pretty productive day down at RA.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The global private equity giant that bought a $4 billion stake in the UFC is in talks with Rugby Australia to make a game-changing investment in the embattled football code. The Herald can reveal the Australian arm of American firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts is in early talks with Rugby Australia...

    Australia domestic rugby 2020

Wouldn’t the crowds be under the same guidelines as whatever they are for the other codes at the time? Seems to be getting slightly more relaxed each week

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Fuck em, just do the self broadcasting dedicated platform. Outsource the production for this season to Double Take to see how it goes, then iron out any issues and ramp it up next year.

    Wallabies 2020

I just overheard Nic White's father in law in the local cafe here in Mudgee telling the owner that Nic will be returning later in the year to play in the tests. It's probably not a surprise, just confirmation.

    Australia domestic rugby 2020

Yeah 2020 has been weird in many ways. I don’t think it would be disastrous if Fox don’t pick it up straight away. At the very least RA and/or the franchises will stream it and with crowds now allowed maybe people will actually head out and watch the game live. I can’t see Fox and FTA not...

    Australia domestic rugby 2020

Sean Maloney is on Twitter saying that not even the players have been told anything concrete about when the comp is kicking off. A little concerning..

    Australia domestic rugby 2020

So they are saying the Waratahs might now play their first few home games at ANZ so they can maximise the amount of supporters under Covid rules. Makes sense, I’d be happy to watch the games in a paddock at Wilcannia TBH.

    Australian Rugby / RA

Yes. My youngest was in year 7 last year and Joe was a year 10 monitor in their boarding house. I spoke to him on a couple of occasions, a very humble and nice young fella. The boys speak very highly of him and he openly says he would rather play rugby than league. He has an obligation to...

What do you want in a RA Streaming Service

I just fired up my Kayo account - not because I want to watch league, it's for my son as he's had an operation and will be home schooled until late July - and there's a heap of Rugby docos on there I didn't know existed. We've spent the day watching the '13 Lions tour, the Gold Brigade, and the...
