    Reds 2019

I understand the appeal from a Reds point of view, but the last thing the ARU needs is a non-eligible player filling a flyhalf role.

    Wallabies 2018 Spring Tour

It also highlights the value of a senior player like TPN in the squad (who, coincidentally is another guy bought into test rugby very young and who, to my recollection, has no blemishes at all on his record).

    Wallabies 2018 Spring Tour

I understand what you are saying - and I have had my reservations. But Petaia looks to me to be much more assured and grounded. I don’t know him personally at all, mind you. Maybe someone else can shed some more light - but while he may not have O’Conners brash confidence & attacking prowess he...

The other interesting thing for me will be what impact the appointment of Ryan will have on the tackling of Paia'aua, Kerevi & Daugunu who have all had there problems at times.

Forgot about Perese. You're right - he would be above CFS in the pecking order. I thought this was the first year that CFS showed consistency at Super level but probably suffered a bit from the lack of cohesiveness in the Reds backline. Then the poor bugger got injured again. I'd be happy with...

ROUND 7: NSW COUNTRY EAGLES VS QLD COUNTRY

Agree Reg - as a team they were scratchy. Tight 5 not quite hitting the mark and a few to many promising moves killed off with poor/sloppy play at the end. But then if your not in it, your no chance - so at least they will get a crack.

    Reds 2019

It'll be interesting how the Reds configure their backline next year. Petaia is obviously a wing option, but he really looks at home in 13 to me. Am I right that Paia'aua has played some 15? Does anyone know how he goes there? I wonder if Thorn will be tempted to play CFS 11, Kerevi at 12...

ROUND 7: NSW COUNTRY EAGLES VS QLD COUNTRY

Understand the sentiment Sully - was quite messy and very stop start. Amongst it all there were some very moments from a few players - Petaia, Feauai-Sautia, Daugunu & ASY (Angus Scott-Young) all had some good moments. Congrats to Paddy Ryan on his last game in Australia.

I don’t care how young or inexperienced he is anymore - I hope they take Petaia on tour. I can’t remember seeing anyone at his age who’ve I thought was more impressive.

Is Stiles still involved down there? I imagine if he gets gets a bit of time with them he can improve their scrum. Stiles had issues as a coach but he seemed to do pretty well as a set piece forwards coach.

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

It’s a balancing act. Managing his work load between now and the WC will be important. But if they don’t pick him in the squad is Leicester under any obligation to release him to train with the Wallaby squad? I imagine that his advice to the likes of Fainga'a, Paenga Amosa & Tupou most be like...

    Reds 2019

As a front rower, happy to have a crack at that Reg - - keep hair tidy - lead backline training talk fest - save club on jersey cleaning bill - call stupid, unnecessarily complex moves when under the pump and waste the ball hard won by the forward pack - kick out on the full - occasionally...

Wobblies v pumas - is Salta at altitude edition

Absolutely. Giteau’s defence was a key component to our success in the last WC. His cover defence was exceptional and his ability to organise those around him was instrumental. McCalman had some of his finest moments in the Gold jersey as well.

Yeah - I get that, and he is fine for the point Slim was making. I still thought it was funny that Slim threw him in with 3 of the greats of all time.

With regards to the long cut outs - it did find space at times, but surely the plan is to throw it when on, not just carte Blanche to do it whenever. When the Boks scored the first try, the commentators kept talking about Beale spotting the space and Dyantyi coming from nowhere but from what I...
