The run home: the comp gets serious

Well the Force have certainly done that, I think the Crusaders are gone for the season. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of fellas. :lmao: Of the top four, Reds have the easiest run home. I reckon in the first half they were starting to show signs of fatigue, and will need to freshen up from...

G&GR Force Player of the Match (v Crusaders)

This wasn't easy, lots of players stood up: Nathan Charles 3 Wasn't on the field for long, but what he did was fantastic. Nathan Sharpe 2 Richard Brown 1 And I am a harsh RB critic but I thought he did well tonight. Honorable mentions to Whittaker, Cowan, Pocock, Hodgson, Cross (who did some...

    Western Force v Crusaders. Perth.

Does anyone know if the JOC (James O'Connor) fortnight started last Sunday, ie he'll be back next week or from the announcement ie he'll miss two games? O'Young to me looked close to the second best of the Oz halves this year so it seems a bit strange that he got dumped for announcing his retirement.

Waratahs V Brumbies. Sydney Olympic Stadium.

The addition of Sidey to the 22 (25) suggests Horne is under serious threat of missing the game too. The connectedness of glutes and hamstrings has me thinking that there's been a recurrence smokescreen put up and that one of our most dangerous backs will either miss out or be less than 100%...

The run home: the comp gets serious

If you watch the tape you would see the ref is so close he could have picked the ball up himself (or almost). I wouldn't blame the AR for not calling it as he would have thought the ref had decided to let it go.

The run home: the comp gets serious

I think one more week will make everything much clearer: 1. The Crusaders MUST beat the Force next week otherwise I think they'll miss the four. The Force seem to play well against them because the Crusaders don't attack them like the Blues did. Force are at home and the Crusaders dream run...

WJ, After last night you might want to modify the by-line under your avatar.

Why would he have a word to him? To congratulate him maybe? This is the third straight week that the Crusaders have had the benefit of every close decision; and some not so close too! Lyndon Bray is supposedly the disciplinarian, but I think he's given up. Certainly been nothing on the forum...

    That is absolutely awesome.

The Brumbies - can they do it?

The Brumbies are gone for the title. They'd have to win one away and two home and pick up at least two bonus points to make the four. Then they'd have to win a semi and a final in SA. The way they are playing now that just won't happen. By the end of the round there will be a four point gap...

    SA vs NZ S14 clashes

I'll be very surprised if the last week does any more than decide where the final will be played and which two non-SA teams will lose in the semis. I know I said I'd wait till after next week to call it but its looking awesomely difficult to see anyone beating Stormers or Bulls at home. On...

    Waratahs 2010

IMO this is what you have a junior squad for. You bring across the 10 from the juniors and tell him to mould his play on Hangers. This has three good effects: 1. The rest of the backline remains settled and can focus on their own training. 2. The junior learns to play with the seniors and gets...

    Melbourne Rebels 2011

Re: Rebels deadline ends, update here on what you hear. I'm sorry someone didn't pick up Peter Hewat. A quick look at his Waratahs record shows that he was a very fine player. He was the best ball thief I ever saw and he could sniff a try from anywhere. His kicking was ultra reliable. I haven't...

    Brumbies v Cheetahs, Canberra

Mr Floors has good grounds for appeal. A certain Richard McCaw did a bad spear tackle earlier in the year, didn't get carded, didn't get cited. Did give away a penalty.

    Crusaders v Waratahs. Christchurch.

Hands up all those who thought the new interpretations would lead to better rugby. I did. But unless something changes we are going to see a lot of teams play like the Crusaders did in the last 20 mins, and that was dire. I think the key is that attacking teams are still being allowed to dive...

G&GR Waratahs Player of the Match (versus Crusaders)

Waugh 3 Beale 2 Horne 1 Honorable mentions to TPN, Palu till injured and Mumm. I'd like to see the off-side against Beale frame by frame. I thought he was on. I think there goes the season.

The run home: the comp gets serious

Five points to the Bulls tonight, I was hoping they'd get no more than four and preferably one. The BP is huge for them and gives them so much insurance for the coming weeks. Next week they have the travel weary Reds and then they are back home with Crusaders (home) and Stormers (away) the...
