    Rugby 7s general chat

I'm watching the stream and can't help of thinking what a circuit might look like and where it could be played. Thinking of an independent circuit and locations we could go Queensland, NSW, ACT, Victoria, WA, NT, SA and National Indigenous to start. In terms of venues we go Bond Uni...

    Rugby 7s general chat

Evidently they're calling it Friday Night 9s. Also launching something called M8s. A modified 8 man game.
  3. WorkingClassRugger

    National Sevens Championship

Being streamed through rugby.com.au. Some quality 7s so far. So less so by some of the less fancied teams.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

Not only the DO's but hopefully those administering clubs through the state etc. are sharing what is working for them and helping others get similar competitions off the ground. As above, distance is the major impediment to playing competitive sport in the bush. Many people still do it but the...

    Brisbane Global Rugby Tens

Still hasn't hurt the overall popularity of the game in the country. Just confirmed what many suspected about the then ruling family.

    Shute Shield 2017

Still doesn't answee fhe question. Did this vote actually happen?
  7. WorkingClassRugger

    Brisbane Global Rugby Tens

They're looking to build a domestic franchise based 7s league. Had two events this year but want to grow it to about 6 if I remember correctly.

Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

The Knights are bloody desperate. That's what that is.

    Fiji into Super Rugby?

According tp wiki the Indian population only makes up 37.5% of the population. Native Fijian 56.8%, Rotuman 1.2% and others 4.5%.

    NRC onwards and upwards

And you never know. By the time the next broadcasting deal comes around it might actually be worth something. Hopefully someone at the ARU are working away at developing a strategy on how to increase community engagement and perhaps some promotional plans for next season.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

I think this is one of the great strengths of 7s as a spring/summer oriented sport. Not only does it have the ability to draw in participants from other sports or just new participants all together but it allows regional centres like Tamworth to effectively overcome the tyranny of distance that...

    Shute Shield 2017

No, the poster states that it's just the Shute Club Presidents.

    NRC onwards and upwards

A brief but pleasing article from The Roar regarding the NRC. Within it states that both attendance (10%) and viewership (23% per game) are both trending up. Considering just how outstanding this season was hopefully that has put it in good stead to continue this growth next season.

    Fiji into Super Rugby?

From the initial article I got the sense that this was a private endeavor. So the FRU not knowing or being involved is hardly surprising. Or they could be playing dumb about ot.

    Fiji into Super Rugby?

Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

I'm actually all for the legalization of otherwise commonly thought of as recreational drugs like Marijuana and even a number of party drugs as a means of regulating, controlling the quality and composition of these substances. I see a regulated industry that is accountable for their product as...

    Fiji into Super Rugby?

A new twist in this story. Apparently, the FRU have no knowledge of these plans.

    Fiji into Super Rugby?

Pretty sure he means the NRC. Could just transplant the Brumbies, Rebels and Force brands. Keep the current split in NSW and Qld as well as Fiji. Sixteen rounds, home and away.

    Fiji into Super Rugby?

Reverting back to the three conferences makes the most sense. Sth Africa's insistance on having 6 franchises throws any balance out of whack as logically you would align the Jaguares with the SA conference. A solution could be splitting Super Rugby in divisions alongside bringing in a second Sth...

    Shute Shield 2017

I'm taking the approach that its largely BS but was just wondering if anyone had heard anything about it.
