And I believe the Farrer vs Marist game is Tuesday 6th Aug.

    ISA Rugby 2013

I would go a step further .... since all the country schools have boarding, how about we offer ISA weekend boarding facilities where city kids can be dropped at their school on Friday afternoon and only picked up on Sunday afternoon after a whole weekend of rugby! :)

    ISA Rugby 2013

Hugh, the three 3rd Division schools (Oxley Grammar, BMGS & Scots Bathurst are in a "comp" together with the 3rd XVs from Oakhill, St Pats, Stannies & Auggies. I am not 100% sure but I think Pius 2nd XV plays in this "comp" as well. Is there a bye, you asked. For the 3rd XVs from the Div 1...

    ISA Rugby 2013

Dear GPStyle, This may have been a reaction to my comment about ISA keeping rugby alive in country schools. None of the regular contributors on this thread (ISA) is naive enough to say our comp is superior to GPS. It is absurd that you would even think that. My point was, imagine the state of...

    ISA Rugby 2013

I am so glad ISA is doing something to keep rugby going in so many country schools -- hope it can do more in the future. Sure beats what the ARU is doing. Just Stannies & Kinross alone, there must be more junior rugby players in those two schools compare to the whole of the Western Plain. Not to...

    ISA Rugby 2013

This will be a good one to watch ! This will tell who will win ISA next year. Oakhill 16As beat Newington by over 50 last weekend but Newington had a couple out for athletics. This weekend is a full fixture Oakhill vs Auggies except in the Opens. I see Auggies is fielding five or six 13 age...

    ISA Rugby 2013

Anyone who was up at Bathurst in the weekend knows how Kinross 1st went against Riverview 2nds ? All the GPS sides were not full strength in the weekend because of athletics but a gauge for ISA teams nonetheless.

    ISA Rugby 2013

Hugh, I think Grammar was at Oxford Falls (St Pius), Kinross went over to Bathurst and played Riverview along with Stannies (Stannies 1st vs Riverview 1st, Kinross 1st vs Riverview 2nds). Not sure who Pats played yesterday.

The Relationship Between the Schools, the Clubs, the Unions and the ARU

Dear USARugger, thank you for showing interest in our junior Rugby organisation (sorry, organization!). I guess you probably think, for the 3rd ranked rugby nation in the world, we must have some super structure in place that has a clear path from the head office of the ARU all the way down to...

    ISA Rugby 2013

This is going start happening this year. When St Pats, Stannies & Oakhill play the Div 3 schools, they will be sending their 3rds, 16Cs, 15Cs, 14Cs and 13Cs. So in a smaller scale, it will be a full program across every age group.

    ISA Rugby 2013

Hi Tom, just came across something you posted ages ago. Want to ask you, assuming if Chev 2nds is in a comp where they play Andrews 2nds, Redfield 2nds, St Pats 4ths, Stannies 4ths, Oakhill 4ths, Pius 3rds, Central Grammar 2nds ... or something similar in strength, would guys be interested in...

    CAS expansion

Yes , Snort . .... those were the bastards ! Names all ring a bell now. Remember they also had a skinny guy in the wing with blonde hair called Lanz who ran the 100m in 10 flat ?

    CAS expansion

Cartoon Pig, you are absolutely right. Cutler was 1977 ! Help me out again, Snort ..... what year was it when Barker had those giant backs who were also really fast. Ran rings around us.

    CAS expansion

Whoa ! My memory of the 1978 CAS comp started flooding back while reading all these. I do remember no one knew who won - at our school we didn't care because we certainly didn't win :) But two events still very clear to me until this day -- CAS beating GPS at daggy Chatswood Oval and Steve...

    ISA Rugby 2013

Hugh, last year Oakhill played their 3rds vs Pius 2nds and Andrews 2nds. Meanwhile their 2nds were across town against Syd Grammar 1st and Scots 2nds. Their 4ths was probably up at Central Coast Grammar and their 5ths would have played St Pats 5ths. Similar thing would have happened for any of...

    ISA Rugby 2013

Hugh, you are spot on. The playing numbers among the Div 1 schools is very uneven. I have said in a previous thread it is a real worry where the 2nd & 16A comps are heading in Div 1 due to lack of competitive matches. Maybe we can't have the old fashion School vs School matchdays when all hands...

    ISA Rugby 2013

Hey Ando, what is the vibe in Div 2 1st XV this year ? I guess Andrews, Redfield, your mob at Chev and All Saints are all in with a chance ? Saw some pretty decent footy from Div 2 schools last year during the semis at Oakhill.

    ISA Rugby 2013

You are right about AICES schools, Hugh. Take Northolm Grammar as an example, if given the opportunity to have a regular season they would be able to field a team in every age group. And they do this without having to find grounds, coaches, recruitment drive etc etc that every start up club...

    ISA Rugby 2013

Thanks for the update, Tom. The news of C grade from the larger schools playing in the new Div 3 is great. It is always a struggle to find matches for Cs & Ds in the bigger schools, and this approach also gives Div 3 a meaningful comp. In years to come we may see Div 3 schools having more than...

Q-H , agree Kinross 16As looked pretty good last year. Likewise Auggies 16s last year. I don't know exactly how many Auggies 1st & 2nds are returning but I suspect there is a significant number. You probably know better.
