    Waratah's shameful again

There was a time, when the Ellas were still at school, that no self respecting rugby player would have gone to the beach in anything else. Wearing those boardie things would have got you labelled as something else entirely. Now speedos are an object of derision. Well I've probably only got 20...

    Wallabies vs Boks Bloemfontein

Wallabies were definitely on top for the last 10-15 minutes of the second half - basically from the time of Saia's brain snap. In that time we made some mistakes (coach killers for sure) but we were playing the more positive rugby and I always thought we were a chance. If the Boks were so much...

SA V Aus - The ref

I doubt that there is a more difficult refereeing job than a tri-nations test. The pace is just so quick and the combat so intense. I thought he had a reasonable game, but certainly not faultless. His most positive impact was to prevent teams closing out games by collapsing on ruck after...

    Wallabies vs Boks Bloemfontein

I'll bite. Dunning is not playing well this year and has been struggling with his emotions. Several times he has been mouthing off as though he has been taking angry pills. Probably his frustration at his own performance has brought it on but its not going well. Holding on to his club spot...

    Wallabies vs Boks Bloemfontein

Maybe not six to eight but I think 4-5 at least. It was easy to see how it happened. Every reserve who comes on knows he has to make an impact and that's what he was trying to do - make a totally dominant tackle. But his technique was horrible and instead of dominant it was downright...

The Wallaroos - Women's RWC Thread

Excellent result in the third place play-off match and should improve our seedings for the next world cup. We are clearly number three in the world now with daylight 4th. I thought some of the backline play was fabulous over the tournament and the loose forwards were very good too. Well...

    the Real Deal Kurtley Beale!!!!!!

The game was a roller coaster and Beale's play typified the whole team. He is going to be another David Campese, with all the highs and lows, so you better get used to it. Cyclo, can you give us some pharmaceutical advice on how to counter the highs and lows please? You have to say though...

MOTM 3-2-1 Wallabies vs Boks Bloemfontein

    3. Pocock 2. Elsom 1. Burgess Honorable mentions for Sharpe, Moore (what might have been last week), McCalman (great debut), AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) (made up for last week's shocker), Barnes (great impact), Mitchell (would have got points except for the knock-on), Beale (the new Campese. Hang on, its going...

    The Wallabies use of 13

As posted elsewhere, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) had an absolute shocker of a game last Saturday and bombed two certain tries due to poor skills. Maybe he is a better defender and catcher but he has no other technique than crash-ball when attacking and kicks poorly in general play. He never passes (maybe because he...

    Quade Cooper on G&GR

You get more in one day than you'll get with a week of Growden and Co. If Rugby Heaven and Rugby Club was all I could get I would have forsaken rugby for tiddleywinks.

    The Wallabies use of 13

Maybe this is why he bombed the try last week. Does he always carry with his left and fend with his right? If so he's got some work to do on his game.

    Wallabies vs Boks Bloemfontein

Cover Elle McPherson? Classic! No one but Mr Deans gets it. Its like the five people left in the world who think its flat. They know what's right despite all evidence to the contrary.

As unaccustomed as I am to making speeches ...

I've only been here six months but this site has become totally addictive. The quality of the discussion sets this forum apart. You have done exceptionally well and have made something of which you can be really proud.

    Waratahs 2011

On another thread it has been noted that Hickey is looking for a winger/fullback in New Zealand. After the Anese debacle this year I thought he would have learnt a lesson, but it seems not. Anyone of exceptional talent (which is what you want from a marquee player) is already in the All Black...

Wallabies V Boks Loftus Versfeld Pretoria 28/08/2010

I agree, but I am totally looking forward to the first press conference where he drops the F word!

Wallabies V Boks Loftus Versfeld Pretoria 28/08/2010

I agree Beale had a fantastic game, every time he had the ball I felt something was on. He knows how to run, draw a man and pass. He and Cooper in the same team is a defensive nightmare but the attacking qualities both have will give any other team nightmares too. The first half attack was...

MOTM 3-2-1, Wallabies v Boks ,Loftus Versfeld

    3. Beale. His defence was not great and he was suspect under the high ball but his attacking running was sensational. Showed Giteau how to run, draw a man and then pass. Almost Ella-esque in quality. 2. Mitchell. Played like a winger should. 1. Cooper. When he had ball-in-hand looking...

    Shute Shield 2010

Watched Sharks and WP this morning (sleeping problems are a bastard) and thought that the level of back play was nearly as dire as watching the Wallabies without Cooper, especially as it was 1 vs 2. It was all just pass-along-the-line stuff without much depth running but with lots of ball...

Ref's; what makes 'em good, what should they be trying to do.

He does seem to have a level of maturity about his reffing but still seems to keep up despite his age. I'd much rather have Munro than Bryce Lawrence or Brown. I understand why the Kiwis like Lawrence, he lets anything go around the ruck - watching his reffing made me feel the NLI's had passed...

Ref's; what makes 'em good, what should they be trying to do.

I assume you don't mean Bryce Lawrence, his performances this year were awful. I thought Mark Lawrence has been OK but not the standout. I do like Vinnie Munro but he seems to be out of favour except for assistant ref jobs.
