    Wallaby Inside Backs Headgear Conspiracy

I am getting mildly concerned that the thrust of my important previous missive has not been understood. On the Total Rugby television program Stephen Larkham appeared to admit that he was miked up. Now he may have been having a lend of the interviewer or just generally was "taking the piss"...

    John Eales Medal

One thing this does highlight to me is how important Palu was for us last year. He was leading after the EOYT till he got crocked. McCalman has been an interesting newcomer but Oh! how we missed Cliffy's big hits and big runs. It would have made a big difference to a few of the results I reckon.

    Tim Horan Joins Fox

Jeremy Paul doesn't get a mention. Gee I hope that means he's been canned! I think that Fox should be training up another main caller, not another sidekick. Clarke is average to OK but he's definitely no worldbeater.

    Wallaby Inside Backs Headgear Conspiracy

I saw this yesterday on Total Rugby on Fox, which is a half hour rugby show that I think comes out of the UK. Players "appeared" to admit to it which surprised me just a tad. But the accusation is genuine, it is not a wind-up. If true it will start a witch hunt. I am utterly convinced that...

    Waratahs 2011

Does the CEO or the board make the decision on the next coach? That is the key to the revival of the Tahs as a franchise, getting a coach who can finally realise the dream of playing Waratah-type winning rugby. Jason Allen seems to have experience on the marketing and sales side of the...

Thoughts on the Wallabies 2010 Tri Nations performance.

    I suppose its a theory........

Thoughts on the Wallabies 2010 Tri Nations performance.

Small dose of reality required here: 1. Pocock is nowhere near the number one 7. If anyone needs proof, watch the Sydney test again. It was a McCaw masterclass and without him the AB's would have lost by heaps. 2. Perthfontein was vs England. Did you mean Bloemfontain? If you did mean...

    Wallabies v All Blacks Sydney

And the blindside winger was around on the open side to indicate that a blind side move was not planned but that the Blackness would either go wide or down the 10/12 channel. And as pointed out the move doesn't work if 7 stays on till 8 picks up because he can't get wide fast enough. My post...

MOTM 3-2-1 Wallabies vs All Blacks, Sydney

    Classic!

    Wallabies v All Blacks Sydney

You are right on one count. It is all done and dusted and the result will not change. But given that at every contest there are multiple infringements, the job of a referee is to decide what impact particular infringements have on the game. You can't just add them up or cancel them out...

2010 Wallabies End of Year Tour (EOYT)

I would rest Rocky and make Sharpey captain. Chisholm drops out. I'd be inclined to take Douglas and leave Mumm at home to get some strength work into him so he can be more effective at the ruck. I'd take the Fuse and leave Maafu behind but Dingo won't and I'd find space for Weekes for the...

The Wallabies - sprinters not stayers

Every time we lose the second half, particularly when it is the pigs who are tiring most, the theory is becoming less and less controversial. Add to that Bruce's connection to Sydney Uni, who seem to be very well conditioned vis-a-vis the other Shute teams and I think its time that more...

    Gnostic's - Wallaby Player ratings V ABs Sydney 11/09/2010

Its not a couple, its five tries! Mitchell has made nowhere near that many errors in the same number of games. And since when should a player have to learn how to play a new position in international tests against the world's best two teams?

    Wallabies v All Blacks Sydney

Agree Cyclo. His tackling for the Force at 12 has been fine. He just doesn't know where to position himself at 14 and it has cost us 4 or 5 tries on defence in the TN.

    Matt Giteau

Genia shouldn't be starting, Burgess would be better. That said, Genia was playing much better earlier this year. Why is he so slow to get to the breakdown? Fat cat is playing badly but we have no one else better. Cooper defended badly this week (again) and attacked with less venom. But he...

    Gnostic's - Wallaby Player ratings V ABs Sydney 11/09/2010

Points of disagreement: I think Robinson rated less than 5. For someone who is supposed to be the world no. 1 LHP he got owned by the AB's. Maafu was better than Robinson. I think Sharpie was better than a 6, only negative is the scrum, rest was excellent. Genia should maybe get a 3, 2 is...

MOTM 3-2-1 Wallabies vs All Blacks, Sydney

    3. Beale. Best on the park, better than McCaw who was very, very good. 2. Turner. Did everything right. Will Dingo ever learn to pick players in positions where they have already learnt how to play? 1. McCalman. Especially the first half, he's not Palu but he's the closest we've got and...

How'd you like to be the Wallaby front row left side who got completely cut out of the picture?

    Wallabies v All Blacks Sydney

I don't have high expectations that we will blow the Blacks off the park this weekend. They are totally rested and we are travelling east. Only the Crusaders and Reds managed a good result doing that this year and I wonder whether Link will divulge the secret ingredient. Their backline...
