    Wallabies 2019 Thread

Really doesn't have tp at the Brumbies, with generally two of the very best lineout operators in Arnold and Carter complemented by other much more than capable jumpers in McCaffrey, Cusack and Samu. Rob's role is to hit the ball up in mid field off the lineout and he is second to none in the...

On the other hand, Valetini would be the ideal player to hit the ball up one or two off the lineout. He runs exceptionally hard and is very difficult to stop. Could well be a more effective combination than LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) in the lineout and Naisarani being the hit up man in mid field.

You are probably right BH about the quality of the individuals, but my impression is that the teamwork, especially in attack in the backline, is far more developed than in previous sides. Maybe better coaching is also an element?

    Rebels 2020

How many were squeezed out by the amalgamation of the Rebels and Force? Has there been any hangover ill-feelings in the camp due to the loss of previous Rebels players to accommodate more than half a team relocating from Perth?

Still doesn't put him in the running for a Wallabies squad spot, unfortunately. Is not that far off Rory in terms of skills and ability. Hope they will both be back before RWC 2023.

Not much to debate in there KO, but I do note your comment about how good the two Arnolds played this year. In fact, Richie has been in France all year, but I can forgive the error as Rory has been playing like two locks in every game this year.

All the best Christian. A real hero to the Brumbies and fans. Deegan would be a good get if he's available. From the local scene, would Mack Hanson be in with a show?

I agree that Rodda, Hooper and Kerevi are also locks for their spots. I don't think Will G is certain at all for the No 9 spot, based on his form this year. Koroibete is almost certain for a wing spot and I would think Naisarani is the most likely No 8. On form, I think the starting 15 for the...

But Laurie isn't even the forwards coach at the Brumbies. He is the defense coach and would be a whole lot more effective than Grey, so yep, get him in there but maybe as defense Asst rather than forwards.

The problem again was the TMO. He said the contact was with Christian's head (when it wasn't), but the ref then said that Tupou's shoulder was near the head but didn't hit it. The TMO agreed but still thought there was contact with the head. The tackle was in fact a no-arms shoulder charge and...

Sure do like the look of that backline.:( One player from the top performing super side, TK, and then Kerevi and Koroibete are good, but the rest couldn't play their way out of a wet paper bag.

    Highlanders VS Tahs

Part of their problem Blackie, they blink and the opposition are straight through the gap in the defensive line.

Looks like the Rebels are cooked for this year. Will be lucky to get anyone other than Naisarani in the Wallablies. Genia is way down on form and Quade still makes too many mistakes. DHP just doesn't have the impact he used to. Unless they have a real turnaround in the 2nd half, they better...

That was really a preview of what the Tahs will offer next year. The portents are not good.

And the penalty for repeat high tackles needs to be significantly increased to deter repeat offenders.

A small inconsistency in the analysis but overall a very good summation of the situation. If, as predicted by the writer, the Brumbies have a bonus point win over the Reds they will finish on 48 points, not 47 as indicated. It is of no effect on the final standing though, but best to be accurate.

I agree. Therefore, either Hooper or Pocock starts, assuming Poey is fit, and the other is left out of the 23 altogether. Then the better performer gets the big gig in the final.

No Speight or Pulu. Will be missing a bit of quality on the wings. As they say, it will be another opportunity for Tom Wright to show what he's got. I think he has sufficient pace to play there, his stepping ability is good and he doesn't mind a bit of hard contact. It's his handling skills that...

BH,I don't think I've ever see that suggested as a basis for selecting players. In some nightmare where it was to be used, do you just pick the best number of players from each team and put them together regardless of whether there are better in other teams in certain positions? Do you just...
