If it's not too much bother what was the result?

Another idea could be to look to include the U20s teams from the Brumbies, Reds, Revels and Force as a means of broadening the interest in the SS from other states that help help expand the broadcast. If a workable financial model could be worked out. It could work out for all concerned with the...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Depends. Advertisers pay for reach so in theory if done well the reach could be significantly higher via something like a fb broadcast. It's not something you could just jump straight into but it could be fostered.

    It could be done.

Good question. I know you can integrate social media in broadcasts. So I'd imagine in theory you could. A first step I suppose would be using existing organisations such as the Tahs and have them push through notifications of games being broadcast. To do it on an individual level would likely...

Then go with a delayed broadcast. That way the FTA broadcaster gets exclusive live rights. If something like the SS wants to grow its footprint it needs to develop it accessibility to potential consumers. Having it on the 7Two is great but its only restricted to NSW and the ACT. There's still...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Social media or broadcasting? In terms of broadcast a dedicated website could have an option where people can watch live and archived games as well as access highlights of the other games not broadcast.

We need to target women and kids. More exposure and access for those two target ,arkets would help in turning the tide mpre in our favour.

    Shute Shield 2017

Well, the first 7 games listed above kind of gave that away.:) Still, I think simulcasting on fb should also be part of their broadcast strategy as it offers flexibility to those who otherwise cannot tune in at 3pm on a Saturday and flexibility to those in other states/overseas.

Half actually put up an interest point on the broadcast thread. Considering the SS has to pay for their broadcast why don't they look to simulcast games on fb? The Tahs fb page has 168,000 likes alone. Certainly an interesting way of reaching out.

There are a number of broadcast opportunities out there. FB is one that we probably should examine particularly in regards to club games. The NRC could work but Fox controls the digital rights to those.

    State of Origin Concept

Oh, as a Tahs fan I hate the Reds (within the confines of when we play them. Generally have more animosity for the Brumbies these tbh) but considering the moxed nature of the teams in Super Rugby these days I really cannot see myself being able to muster the necessary hate for this concept. If we are...

    Waratahs v Highlanders trial - Thursday 16 February 2017

Wait, what. That can't right. But, but, but.........evil NSW and all. Don't come in here and present us with facts.

Access to FTA is more about accessibility than anything else. But as you suggest the broadcast lamdscape is changing so there are opportunities on the horizon. Quite frankly, Super Rugby is a premium Rugby product not just here but abroad and that's where any growth in value will likely come in the near...

Foxtel charges far too much. That's the issue. I suspect that if they were to offer their Sports package as a stand alone product at a competitive price they'd see people come across in greater numbers. Tuat's probably what it should move more toward. There's an ever increasing push toward...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

It is interesting. Something that Netflix has proven is that people are willing to pay in order to avoid ads. Hulu is a partnership among several US TV networks that offers it's platform with two options. A free subscription but with ads or a paid subscription with no ads. It's something...

Eventually the penny will drop that they need to overhaul their business model to something along the lines of Hulu in the US.

Problem is, the only way we're getting onto FTA anytime soon is if we purchase a digital licence and create our own channel. By we I'm refering to WR (World Rugby).

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

What those critical of the new tackle protocols seem to overlook is that they are designed exactly to address issues such as CTE. I think many people falsely assume that its exclusively the big knocks that lead to CTE developing. But there's a great deal of evidence that suggests a culminative...
