Does anyone know what the total SANZAAR deal is worth?

    Shute Shield 2017

Anyone playing in the NRC that selectors want to have a look at after it finishes (I'd have the state finals a week or so after the NRC) could be added or even a whole NRC squad. There would be ways to work around it. As for the circuit. Ideally you'd have all the legs within a designated time...

    They'd run as per usual.

    Waratahs 2017

The only one I agree with on that small list of names is Hugh Perrett. Latinipulu is neither here nor there. Good at club level and serviceable in the NRC but not the best option. Ben Batger at least deserved a shot. Gower, Barry and Feltsher, no.

    Waratahs v Highlanders trial - Thursday 16 February 2017

That would have to be very close to their best XV. Should be a belter of a trial.

No, ideally for this to work if you cannot get a global season sorted at the very least you would look to push in June Test window back to July. Start this new format of Super Rugby mid February. The Champions League part of it would commence right after the first phase of games and run through the...

Well, a move toward a primarily domestic structure would involve some kind of hybrid between the current Super Rugby franchises and NRC franchises. Say the current 5 plus both the Country squads plus Fiji. So it would occupy the same window as Super Rugby currently does and would feature Test...

    Shute Shield 2017

The system needs an overhaul. Personally, I'd like to see state based leagues setup in the post season run during similar windows to that of the NRC. Could tie in with NRC games. Open to all comers. Each region has their leagues and at the end a squad or two are selected for the state titles and...

    Shute Shield 2017

I'd like to see our national 7s comp turned into a proper series. Run over 4 or 5 events. One in Qld either at Ballymore or Bond Uni, one in NSW at say Pittwater or even Nth Sud Oval, one in Canberra and Vikings, One in Melbourne at Quins??, and another in Perth. Actually put some effort into...

    Brisbane Global Rugby Tens

For next year I'd go the 5 Aus and NZ franchises, the Sunwolves , the Jaguares, the Lions, Kenya, Fiji and probably the USA.

Except that they have a history of importing talent but on a more piecemeal and chaotic in nature.

Is it that hard to believe that they have struggled on this front? They've managed not to improve much at all despite the advantage of being exposed to elite competition for what 15+ years.

I still think you need to get them all together in each country as a means of sussing out their exact quality. Different competitions of differing quality could be deceptive. Seeing them execute in person would give them a better gauge on their abilities. If you got 100 guys in each nation and...

They might be well served by putting a general call for players of Italian descendent to trial in the individual nations. Send a team to each of the nations you suggest and trail players. Successful ones get brought to Italy to shown off too the clubs. You never know.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Okay. So there was evidently some mention of a pro league in Sth America during the USA/Brazil game. Not sure how on the money it is. Evidently one of the commentators Dallen Stafford mentioned something about 18 professional teams in 2018. Now, MLR will have 9 teams. Maybe he misspoke. But...

2017 TV ratings and crowd figures

I'd be fine with that as well. But it would hinge on how much FoxSports would be willing to pay for what would be essentially an upgraded NRC. A Champions League style could be worth a fair chunk of change as it would allow for involvement from even more teams. Teams from the Currie Cup, Mitre...

Yep. Cut the Saffers, Argies and Japanese amd go it alone with the Kiwi's. Add another team to each nation (sign a bunch of those Argies, Saffers and Japanese) and go for it.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Well, 4 (5 with Treviso if they were to return) of the current 10 Excellenza team are already situated in Veneto. So they would naturally fall under that franchise if it were to the chosen path. The others are in Lombardia (1), Emilia-Romagna (3) amd Lazio, Rome (2). I agree that they should...
