    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2013

First, my thanks to those who described the SID/SJC match and also took pleasure in the games. As you can imagine its created quite a stir in the broader TAS community. I have just so enjoyed the whole thing. RR, how can you describe the thirds comp as stupid? You might say that it has...

Do you know, I still don't know the result from Lane Cove? Can anybody tell me?

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2013

They are not my boys, of course, wreckless. I think that they would find that concept very strange! However, all the teams this year have given me a great deal of enjoyment win or lose. I have also enjoyed discussions on this thread. I saw the conclave from a distance Quick Hands, and tried to...

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2013

If my memory serves me correctly, TAS played in the First XV comp for some two years (1963 and 1964?), but this proved too complicated for some of the Sydney schools to manage and TAS was dropped. To my knowledge, Rugby is the only sport where TAS competes on a weekly basis. Distance is the...

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2013

Gorgeous and colourful day at Newington. Nice crowd, nice feel. I watched bits of two games, two games in full, but did not stay for later games because I wanted to know what had happened elsewhere in the thirds. Shore 4ths were just to strong for Newington 4ths with a blow out score. Then...

I really appreciate this and Taipan's subsequent suggestions. My thanks to you both.

This is the program for the TAS matches this weekend courtesy of the School. It may take a magnifying glass to read it!

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2013

You maths is right, Wreckless, although I haven't said anything for fear of jinxing things. This will be a tight round; nothing should be taken for granted. TAS will be nervous, I suspect. New will lift in front of a home crowd on such a big weekend at the school. Joeys will lift for they must...

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2013

Re our discussion on scheduling problems in the current GPS competition, TAS has just posted venues and teams for this weekend. With TAS thirds game still to be confirmed, TAS is playing three schools at three venues - Newington, Shore and Joeys. That's not a criticism. Interested to see the...

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2013

At end August at the National Indigenous Rugby Championships, Northern Queensland defeated Northern NSW in the finals. Now two TAS boys, Buddy Mumbulla & Jayden Harradine have been selected for the national indigenous u16s rugby team. They will play in the 2013 ARU National Under 16s...

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2014

That's depressing, IS. I don't know how to respond properly on either the politics or the logistics. Looking at your arguments, maybe SGS, SBH and TAS have to pull out before they are sqeezed out? That's happened to TAS once before. Are we getting to the stage that Rugby is no longer a GPS...

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2014

A brief follow up comment. This is all about sport. The fact that the minnows are competitive at their level in 2013, increases the incentive for boys to play Rugby as compared to other sports. That, in turn, increases their chances of winning and moving up.

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2014

On the 2013 thread, I wondered how TAS might go in 2014. This got me digging out some stats. I don't have enough for the full picture but the results are still interesting. Those who know the Sydney schools might be able to correct my errors. I am not sure that everybody realises that this...

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2013

It was a good game, one in two halves. In the first half, the strong TAS backs ran straight through. Half time score 24-0. Then Scots fought back' scoring two quick tries and then another one. TAS 24' Scots 17. TAS recovered, scoring a converted try. Looking at a later comment on the SGS-SBHS...

I am not close enough to comment, I guess. I think that its biggest winter sport by a considerable margin.

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2013

Not sure whether these are all the TAS teams, New Macca. If you are interested, I will try to find out. TAS is a smaller school, around 850 boys I think, and also plays a lot of sports, so I don't know how many grades there are at any age level in Rugby. This year there has been a noticeable...

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2013

There was a question earlier about Fiji school boys vs NSW Country schools rugby listed for TAS on 23 September. TAS advises that the game is definitely on; the time still has to be confirmed. I am looking forward to the TAS Scots games this weekend. The program follows.
