    Rugby News from unexpected places

Nothing concrete as yet. There has been suggestion that it will be a 14 round home and away season to start. Which is fair enough and easily the most workable. If the choose to do finals it's hard to see them involving any more than 4 teams for 16 weeks in total. Salary cap hasn't been...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

It was never going to be achieved. The math never supported it.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Content wise. Yeah, it's complete bullshit. Always was going to be. They are probably hoping that the teams improve enough next season to justify it or otherwise it will be seen for the f@#k up it looks like it will be. In my opinion.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Mate, I'm no ARU apologist but how did you think this schedule would pan out regarding the derbies when we cut one of our franchises. Unless they play each other three times without the Force they were never going to increase those numbers. As in my other post I figure we'll 13 games a season in...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

In theory teams will only disappear for two maybe three weeks meaning that for at least 13 weeks of the schedule they'll be in more beneficial time zones for domestic fans. Whether this has any actual effect remains to be seen. I suspect it won't and this is more just a placeholder until 2020...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

It's an interesting structure overall. All funds are distributed centrally from the league in regards to salary caps and travel etc. While the teams run their own operations elsewhere. Similar to that of Major League Soccer. Which makes sense as a number of the management group behind the league...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

It's been a while since I've updated this thread about the goings on in the US. So, here goes. First of all everything I'm about to detail (well, most of it) can be found @ Americas Rugby News. So feel free to check it out. Anyway, Minneapolis and Dallas are out both failing to make the bond...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

What's worse is something like this could have been easily achieved with the previous 18 teams. More logical conferences etc. I also agree. Why not just add the two extra rounds so everyone gets to play everyone else.

Brazil to play in the Currie Cup

Nothing concrete yet. But I suspect it will be similar to when Argentina ran the same set up. In which they were based in SA for the entire competition.

Brazil to play in the Currie Cup

Apparently the Brazil Union is in talks with sponsors etc. in order to enter a franchise in the Currie cup as early as next year. While I suspect they will actually compete in the tier below the CC which is now known as the SuperSports Challenge I think this is a huge step for the Union. Would...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

That was the Wildfire which were more of a cobbled together rep squad. Not individual clubs. Which is what I was suggesting.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

They won't necessarily being playing at separate venues all season. Only when playing a theoretical Newcastle and Wollongong side. If Eastwood are scheduled to play Gordon then every team will feature including the premier game. The grand final will still be hosted at the one venue as well...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

A better solution would be for the SS to structure itself as a elite competition involving a premier squad of players dedicated to it. But I don't think we'll see that. Such a structure would allow for participation at that level to grow while maintaining traditional club structures below...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I actually think a different approach is necesaary to just using rep squads. One of the major complaints was that these teams didn't operate as clubs. As in only provided the one team. Well, the solution as far as I see it is instead of inviting the Wildfire or the Illawarriors to the fold. Look...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The Shute needs to look to expand its base further beyond its current boundaries. Getting both Newcastle and Wollongong involved should be on their radar.

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

We have our exit strategy I think. And it is very interesting that the Kiwis have been left out. Wonder if they are starting to feel a little less confident of their positions in the past re: a TT competition.

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

I'll be interested to learn how heavily he's backing the NRC. If it were to the point where players were paid to similar levels to that of the Mitre 10 Cup that would be awesome.

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

That's the schedule I'd like to see the most.

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

Certainly hope they keep the NRC. It's a great and very necessary structure that we need in place. I think a window post NRL/AFL would be great. Yes, it's heading into spring but it can be scheduled to work out the weather to a degree. Night games. New Year's GF etc.

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

It is hard to argue considering the quality of player those academies have been producing in recent years. The England U20s are always very, very good and title contenders.
