Trial form means very little. Last year the Brumbies beat the Rebels in a trial and then lost twice in a matter of a few weeks. The Rebels went on to lead the Aussie conference for some time until they went to water late in the season.

One of Pete Samu's strengths is his ability to continue to make ground when tackled. As often as not will break the first tackle by his sheer will to keep going. In that regard, he is similar to McMahon and Ardie Savea. Probably suits No 8 moreso than No 6.

So true TSR. McKellar took over the Brumbies in 2018 and set out to change the way they played. They had an excellent second half of the season after a poor start and just missed the finals. Kept improving last year to make the Semis. If Penney can do similar, it could be the start of good things.
