Yes, however, the minor changes of the predominantly yellow collar, transparent background on the coat of arms, and the yellow piping/stitch (instead of green) above the green armband are a big improvement IMO. Makes it look a lot less 'top heavy'

My exact thoughts. Glad they managed to sort the legibility issues, but from memory the revised version looked a bit worse in terms of continuity/design. Hopefully it's included as a permanent fixture and they nail it.

This is fantastic, best in years - would still love a permanent incorporation of some indigenous artwork similar to the once-a-season jerseys (which are always mega)

    Reds 2023

It's even more than just recruiting pathways - it's exposure and familiarity. It happens now to a lesser extent, but things like having players/coaches run workshops and holiday camps, doing school visits, even just association between the two organisations (like the Broncs and UQ) will...

Absolutely agree that it's business-led decision making, but I would hesitate to say the influence of old boys is diminishing just yet, in some schools anyway. In only the last couple of years there have been some sporting personnel changes brought about directly as a result of disgruntled old...

Even if it happens, I can't see it being offered in the same term as union - too many old boys with influence - and I imagine schools would want a strong program across both codes, rather than two drawing from the same pool at the same time. Similar to what happened to let boys play both soccer...

It really isn’t that deep, in most cases anyway. The school identifies a talent that could benefit their program, and offer full or partial fee-offset. Exact setups vary, but often include various clauses locking them into the program

https://reds.rugby/news/queensland-reds-and-saitama-panasonic-wild-knights-postpone-inaugural-match-2021929 good call - seems like the relationship is ongoing

    Reds 2022

He's playing in Div 1 now and seems to be the Blue Revs' favoured 10. Played 9 games this season, started 6 of them (incl. the 5 most recent), and played a full 80 in 5

    Reds 2022

Reds' retention of 10s is one thing, but Aus rugby as whole has really struggled with producing high quality Super and International level 10s for quite some time now

    Reds 2022

I mentioned Henry as he played 10 during his school years (and maybe a bit post-school for Wests?) - he obviously now looks at home in the centres, but has some experience there and could be a potential option from the squad (again, in a pinch). I think he'd be looked at before Greally. Hoping...

    Reds 2022

No one in their right mind is suggesting Lynagh yet. I'd not realised, but Creighton's preferred position is 10, followed by fullback and wing - if he does well, he may be the one we've been looking for to take over the reigns from JOC (James O'Connor). Of the other current squad members who could fill the...

Jeez the injury tally is piling up this season

Like the backline you put together, would be my picks too. Henry’s signed through 23 I’m pretty sure. He’s marked as one to fight to retain for me. Be interesting to see what the injury is

Jock’s ability to slot in at first receiver will help steady the ship a bit

On another note, any solid info on the severity of Petaia's hammy? At the very least he's obviously tweaked it enough for them to play it safe

Hurricanes v Reds Sat 23rd April

He's been pretty solid throughout the season so far, so here's hoping that continues. A big opportunity to cement himself for the coming weeks and throw his hat in the ring for a post-JOC (James O'Connor) future. Any eyes on how he goes at 10?

Hurricanes v Reds Sat 23rd April

Yikes. Reds chances are certainly looking dimmer now. Horrendous timing leading up to the kiwi teams Of all the chat throughout the season for 10 replacements if JOC (James O'Connor) went down, did anyone pick Creighton?

Hurricanes v Reds Sat 23rd April

Discipline/cards aside, are they that telling? Divide the difference across 8 rounds and the difference per game isn't that stark, and the ones that are more blown out are pretty contextual to individual games. Reds have also had a lot of wet rounds this season. Not saying the Reds aren't coming...
