Yeah mate, I have to agree his technique was bad. But for a change, he put his body on the line. I see a way forward.

    Italy vs Wallabies, EOYT 2010

Castrogiovanni and his hooker went through an interesting ritual before each scrum. They bound up really tight, angling in towards each other. It was quite unusual to see.

Then surely Slipper for Alexander is the correct exchange? Then Slipper can play LH for the Brumbies and Alexander can play TH for the Reds. Slipper for Ma'afood is NOT a fair exchange.

    Does that stop them?

    Wallabies 9-15 20-22

I just watched the replay and Cooper was substantially better in defence, taking most tackles head-on with his body in the way.

Baxter will probably be the best performing tighthead next year, and the Tahs will almost certainly have the best performing scrum. Of course these things go together.

Andy Friend has a loose head.

Seemingly always in posts that include the word "Reds". :lmao:

I don't see a way forward for Alexander next year. He needs time at tight head and without it may well be overtaken by one of the other tight heads by the time of the World Cup. The Brumbies are not doing the right thing for Australian rugby. The ARU should organise some sort of deal.

Either Horne or Chambers fits the template of a modern 12 better than Giteau or Barnes. Kurtley as well, but we won't go there.

    Deary me.

    Wallabies 1-8, 16-19

Not in this case. We have the power base of our scrum to return, whose absence was the reason we were forced to experiment. Palu, Horwill, Nau and an in-form Robinson and Alexander, supported by a resurgent Moore and an emergent Slipper, will excuse us of the need to blood new players for a...

We've had to put up with a whole year of bloodings and experiments from Deans, RF, without having to put up with yours. ;) I, like many, am looking forward to simply being able to have our best pack on the the field next year, including our most important forward, Cliffy Palu.

MrMouse didn't say no doubt he will be the prop, but no doubt there is a strong chance.

    France vs Wallabies, EOYT 2010

They played every bit as badly as us in the backs against Argentina. Worse.
  17. Groucho

    Wallabies 1-8, 16-19

Much better pack. Elsom for Palu at 8 is a surreal joke.

His injury has every potential to affect his scrummaging. He had a broken arm, which meant no upper body and strength conditioning work whilst he was recovering.

Player of the match - Wallabies v Italy

    3. Rocky Balboa 2. Stephen Moore 1. Quade Cooper - for a dramatically improved tackling performance. Now that he knows he has to tackle I'm confident he'll go back to being an effective head-on tackler, like he was as an undersized schoolboy.

I agree. My rolling eyes were for the commentators.
