    Where to for Super Rugby?

Dave, with respect that is nonsense. More to the point the most success we've had in terms of broadcast numbers for a very long time has been Super Au. Don't let half's suggestion of a NDC devolve to a third tier. It is not what is being discussed.

Such a good look and all.

Australian Bid for 2027 World Cup

Is anyone actually surprised at the NZRU twisting commerce over rugby to their own advantage?

Clearly relying on soccer pitches? I'm not so sure.

Australian Bid for 2027 World Cup

Expectation of 50/50 with the north is ambitious if you ask me. On a basis of money generated the Southern Hemisphere is not close. On world top 10 rankings there are 4 SH teams - 5 if we include Japan as southern. The top 20 it is 9 in the south. Which makes it sound more equitable than it is...

    The Moana Pasifika Franchise

We will see soon enough. It would no longer surprise me to see these guys surprising.

    The Moana Pasifika Franchise

It’s a big step that requires more than just quality players. It’s an awesome start though, especially given the awkward lead up to the franchise.

    Wallabies 2021

Joe, I love most of your stuff but for goodness sake. Sure, Lolesio was catapulted into the role well before his readiness, as we all understand and acknowledge. But he was the #1 selection with JOC (James O'Connor) injured. He may have been "green" but was well more than "serviceable" and comes with the...

    Wallabies 2021

Eh? Over Ikitau? or Paisami? We lacked muscle in the forward pods too, especially the locks. Suspect Japan targeted outside that area. Hooper also had a quiet night in D. I'd take Kerevi back in a heartbeat. But 13 does not need change, and we have options at 12. Options that will have to do...

    Wallabies v Japan, Oita - 23 October, 3:45pm AEDT

Apologies in advance commenting following "leave it alone". Not sure I agree that it is just the same as Quade, but as someone who supported the reconsideration of Quade I think I get where you are coming from. So being fair, if Rennie takes time out with Kurtley checking out "where his head...

    Wallabies v Japan, Oita - 23 October, 3:45pm AEDT

Thanks for that Pfitzy. I was sure that there was a ruling that cleared it, completely viewed by the ref - but like Mehrtens I didn't know it either.

    Wallabies 2021

You could put a good school team against a line out with a poor thrower - regardless of height. Still, I wouldn't select McIrney either. But I'm a fan not an international coach. I find the comments against McKellar laughable. Of fricken course he'll have an impact on selections in the pack, as...

    Super Rugby 2022

RN there are 8 in the finals. There are only 5 Kiwi teams. Unless you are suggesting that both new PI teams will outperform 4 Aussie teams there has to be more than Brumbies in the finals. Whether they approach from the bottom or top half of the 8 is a different matter.

    Super Rugby 2022

Clear headed assessment I think is with you, RN. But I'm hoping Thorn to prove me wrong. Won't be the first time, lol. In the mean time keep an eye out for how things go in WA. They are on a projection and long may it continue. Rebels aren't re-building as such. More consolidating. Hoping that...

    Super Rugby 2022

For now, I'm unconvinced that the Reds are entitled to that preseason bragging rights #2 position. You can see the Red reps at the WBs consistently dropping through the international season. Of course Thorn could be the glue that turns them back where they finished. For now though, I'm unconvinced.

I can only think that others who might overtake Lolesio is a fabulous thing. Wish them the best too.

    Brumbies 2022

Cooper is certainly a game manager, something that has developed like a fine wine with experience and time. It does however sit over top of outrageous natural skill. Lolo also has, I think, that natural skill. Give it time to ferment into the game manager with time and experience. Something...
