    Where to for Super Rugby?

I'd go with the the mooted 8 including the Drua to start. Run over two full home and away rounds for 14 games each plus finals. or do what both the A-League and NBL do and play over three full home and away rounds for 21 rounds. Either option I gues. I do like the idea of a SOO like series...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

It doesn't necessarily need to be defeat. Just a realisation of the need for a more sustainable model. I'd rather we look to go to an expanded NRC with each team operating under a cap of $2m a season than what we have at present. This would allow us to invest in the grassroots of the game more...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

It's not necessarily a must have. Just working with structures we already have in place.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Both NZ and SA have been keen to ensure their traditional structures are maintained. This reorganisation would place renewed emphasis on them. They'll become even more vital in the process and like the NRC will feature AB and Bok players. It would effectively be a revival for these structures. I...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Using the clubs would be far too divisive. It would be better to grow the NRC structure than bring in this club over that club. If there's demand and room for growth then introduce teams at that level but not clubs. Sorry, but that's the only way I see it being workable. I'd keep the current 4...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

It would provide more content while effectively funnelling talent upward. Everyone would start the season in the NRC competing for higher honours. From there we move into Super Rugby for a short, sharp season with the best two teams going into the finals series (S6). And then to a solid 12 or so week...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Not necessarily. It may just be a re-organisation of the current schedules. Move the NRC into the Super Rugby window and play it over two rounds. Leading into the soon to be July Test window. Have all professional players involved. Wallabies and all. Same in NZ and SA. Hell, with the new Sth American...

    Waratahs 2018

He looks dominant in his highlights reel. Which may not be the best indication of his ability to translate to senior footy but hopefully. I personally think he'd suit our game more than League but it will probably come down to money.

    Waratahs 2018

Isn't Helu the bloke the NRL clubs were very keen on?

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The Chinese women have just qualified for the Women's circuit next season. And it was well deserved. Clearly the best team over the two days. They beat Sth Africa 29-14 in the final.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

That is a very interesting and possibly pertinent question in relation to this situation regarding Spain.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

You knew that he's definitely the same bloke (there was an argument that it may have been a case of mistaken identity) when Romanians started arguing that the Tongan team was an invitational team and not representative of Tonga. Which we all know isn't the case. The Spanish players are...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Apparently the FER cleared the players with WR (World Rugby) before they capped them a few years back. So, they might be okay. No idea about the Tongan bloke who played for Romania.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Well, a lot hinges on them. If Romania are proven to have fielded an ineligible palyer and Spain are cleared then the Belgium game is moot. Spain would qualify. If Spain has ineligible players then they could also be disqualified and Russia gets the nod. They need to get that sorted out.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Not entirely accurate. Our overall market has proven that if the perceived value is there then it is willing to pony up big money. Our problem is and always has been that the near singular focus on the international game has meant we've neglected any attempt to really develop our market or our...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

MLR have announced a broadcast agreement with AT&T Sports Network. This enables the league to now offer games both nationally via CBS (TV and online), ESPN (via their OTT service ESPN + and possibly on TV as well) and locally within each market they are currently in and likely to expand into...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

And that's probably the biggest issue with how we opt to run Rugby in this country. Everything is geared toward and solely reliant on the Wallabies. This means that the professional games is treated more as a extensive audition instead of it's own concern. And that's why I welcome Forrest's...

    Super W Competition

The diets and conditioning would be part of the equation in regards to added training time. I was sort of alluding to that. Instead of getting them together a month before run the squad through out the year and such. Develop proper programs for the players etc.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Someone suggested on a FB thread I was on that 2 or 3 teams will "fail" as in have already on sold their licences. I suspect NOLA may be one of them. Which isn't actually that remarkable for sporting competition in the US.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

I'm not too sure of the extent of the Rugby seen in Louisiana to be honest. But I wouldn't have had it on my list of likely locations for professional team. I really don't know how it is going to work out. They only have one stand that seats 1200 "normal people" but overall they still have a lot...
