    Super W Competition

It's been really entertaining and played at a very pleasing overall level of play. My only issues with the competition outside of the players not being paid is that it's just too damn short of a season. Ideally, we'd see it expanded to two full rounds of home and away games next season. At a...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Austin will be re-branding prior to season 2's kick off apparently. While I agree that ideally Glendale would be Denver they already do source a lot of there fan base from the surrounding areas so that's not all that important. They are also very professionally run off the field and have a great...

    Shute Shield 2018

You've clearly never played in a country based competition have you? Or lived in the Western half of the city and played in a team based in the Eastern Suburbs. Because the 35 minute trip up the road is a nothing trip for either of those who have or do. I have had to travel two hours down to...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

I'm probably going to write something up about the upcoming MLR kickoff this week. Also will likely try to reach out to the individual teams in attempt to also do individual pieces. Regarding MLR. New York had a very successful event selling out their facility against Boston Mystics. And Utah...

    Waratahs 2018

Eden Park only had 60k for RWC 2011 and pretty sure International Stadium Yokohama which will host the 2019 final is only 72k.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Well, considering Forrest's WSR concept will likely be running for two season come 2021 if everything goes to plan and will feature a number of teams in the region I think we'll have an idea of the market by then.

    Waratahs 2018

I think the new Parramatta stadium has the ability to expand it's capacity to 40k if necessary. But I couldn't agree more with the idea of a more centralised stadium. Would be awesome.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Which is part of the reason why so many are in favour of a more Asia-Pacific focus.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Just read an article on Americas Rugby News and from what they've attained at least one of the Spanish pair is fine but the other is less clear. The Spanish Union seems confident that there is no issue and it hinges on whether the French fulfilled their duty of informing the player that his...

It's all sorts of farcical now.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

And now we have another twist in this tale. Apparently Romania have used an ineligible player during this qualification cycle which means they could be docked the points from the game or games he was used. Meaning Spain could in fact be Japan bound.

    Reds 2018

Hahaha I've always maintained that Queensland is very similar to NZ. Home to just some remarkable country. It's just a pity it's populated by 2.4millions pricks.;)

Anyone catch the Tahs vs Brumbies game today?

    Rugby News from unexpected places

I watched it. Spain were poor in the first half but there were some questionable decisions even then. Spain were penalised for obstruction at one point. But the penalty was only called and then awarded when Spain looked like breaking through. Before that, the ref missed a blatantly late tackle...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Right. Potentially, maybe. Apparently WR (World Rugby) have committed to finding more opportunities for PI players and are said to be a backer of this league. So it's possible. For all the talk from some about not looking after the Islands the truth is there hasn't been more opportunity for players from the...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

No. It's a Union driven thing. With private investment. They are more focused on the Americas and eventually linking up with MLR in some kind of Cup capacity.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

On the Sth American League. This is a direct quote taken from another forum from a guy with extensive links to the CBRU (Brazil) "More infos about the South American League I got after talking to some people involved in Brazilian high performance: - It will run from February to May/June; -...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Apparently the RE Chairman (who is the Romanian guy who oversaw this shit show) acquired the Romanian TV rights for the RWC via a shell corp based out of Malta. If true this just got a whole lot murkier.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

MLR have signed a broadcast deal with ESPN. They'll cover the other 18 games of the inaugural season. Apparently there's one more broadcast deal to be announce. Suspected to be with YouTube. They've done an amazing job of getting these deals up and running.
