    Where to for Super Rugby?

Everything makes the ratings. We plebs just don't get to see the numbers. Given the timezones, what's interesting is Aus v Sunwolves games rate way better than Sunwolves v Aus games. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I always find it interesting how poorly the Sunwolves rate here even when playing an Aus team Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

He's not eligible for Oz once he goes home though right? 5 year once he gets on the plane back to the gc is a very long road! Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

McIntyre won two NRC titles in a row at 10 and it didn't seem to develop him for Super Rugby much at all Edit - though I see he had 20 games for Agen in the Top 14 last year so hopefully he can build a nice pro rugby career

For one thing, he's playing way less games in Japan than he would with Super Rugby+internationals. Hasn't played more than 15 games a year since 2012 - and usually a fair bit less http://www.itsrugby.co.uk/player-sum-4440.html

Have Barnes' head knock issues been resolved? That's why he left for Japan in the first place right? Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

What some of the research shows is that headgear wearers are more likley to approach collisions at a higher speed more often, using their heads and so they expose themselves to higher energy collisions more often. World Rugby actually limit the thickness and density of headgear to the point...

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

Have a look at the links I posted a couple of weeks ago - there's extensive discussion on exactly this. The trade-off between an increase in head to lower body impacts are vastly outweighed by the reduction in head to head and head to shoulder impacts Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

I think there's a bit of evidence out there that concussion risks rise later in games and with more games in a torunament - There's no real equivalent in 15s of the fatigue that you feel in the 14th minute of your 6th game in two days. Do they make more tackles/min? Probably more one-on-one...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

What access do those 33m Chinese people have to rugby? Is it available on TV, local comps etc?

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

Players won't wear thicker headgear as it's too uncomfortable. It also results in more injuries/risks elsewhere - particularly neck injuries (Yep, it's complicated!) Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

The issue McIntosh found was that the players simply stopped using the modified headgear - it was too hot/uncomfortable. It meant getting a statistically significant result was difficult as the n was too low Also worth noting that even the modified headgear couldn't reduce enough energy under...

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

Absolutely you can reduce the magnitude of deceleration forces. High school physics will show you that if you increase the distance that the impact occupies, then the force goes down. Think airbags, crumplezones, tirewalls etc One issue is that existing headgear are too thin to effectively make...

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

Worth mentioning that World Rugby regulations limit the effectiveness of existing headgear by mandating densities thicknesses and materials. There is research out there that shows you can reduce risks with different designs but there doesn't seem to be much desire to head in that direction at...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

You're discussing this with one BH! (half) I reckon there's a fair bit of crossover between soccer and union fans - but there's not that much crossover between A-League and Super Rugby fans. That's more of a reflection of how popular the two competitions are though

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

Think you are selling the NRC teams a bit short there. Consider a possible Queensland Country team (thanks Reg!) 15 Filipo Daugunu 14 Izaia Perese 13 Chris Feauai-Sautia 12 Duncan Paia’aua 11 Jordan Petaia 10 Hamish Stewart 9 Tate McDermott 8 Tainui Ford 7 Liam Wright 6 Angus Scott-Young 5 Harry...
