    Rugby News from unexpected places

I'd say a Mexican team is a ways off. But it is interesting to see just how much interest there is. I've said previously that one of the biggest issues for the league won't be interest but managing that interest to ensure overall competitiveness within the league. Regarding player depth. The...

    Rugby 7s general chat

Just on the RWC 7s. Apparently they've sold 90k tickets to date.

Fulltime domestic Women's Sevens Competition from 2017

Absolutely. We need to get this competition out there and seen to let everyone know we have this awesome competition for girls/women and really look to grow the bloody thing. Look to get it to 12 Uni's with 8 - 10 rounds.

Fulltime domestic Women's Sevens Competition from 2017

Perhaps. But I would have thought that Sydney Uni would have jumped at the chance to host an event. Anyway, a step in the right direction. Ideally in time all of the participating Uni's will either host or co-host a round.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Okay. So Boston might be ready for next season and almost certain for 2020. Which is a bit out of nowhere. Not their interest but the advanced nature of it. But that's not the craziest revelations. Apparently there's interest from Las Vegas and wait for it. Baja. As in Baja Mexico.

Fulltime domestic Women's Sevens Competition from 2017

They've just announced that the Aon 7s will be expanded to 5 rounds. But interestingly there's no NSW based round.

    Force 2018

That's awesome. I'll definitely be tuning in for that game via Twitter.

    Shute Shield 2018

Just saw on rugby.com.au that Parramatta will be re-branding for the 2019 season. From 2019 onward they will be known as the Western Sydney Two Blues.

    NRC 2018

If I were RA I'd be reaching out to Major League Rugby and talking to them about how they've gone about building their model. How they drew in investment etc. Would likely help out the NRC.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Not one Kiwi. The Korean rep is actually American born and raised. Attended UoC Berkeley. Qualified for Korea via his mother. Matt Turner the Pom is actually another Saffer.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

They seem to have a pretty solid business plan for the league. All the owners need to prove their ability to finance all costs for 5 seasons so it should be around for a while. It also managed pretty solid ratings as well. It's certainly a better model than the NRC. Would actually like to see...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

It's been a pretty good first season overall. Parity was fairly good across the league. Should improve again nwxt season with NY, LA and likely Ontario all coming online bringinh wven more talent that didn't feature thanks largely to geography and work. The salary cap will also grow by I'm...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

The Seattle Seawolves have won the inaugural MLR Championship 19 -23.

Round 18: Waratahs v Sunwolves, Saturday 7:15 AET, SFS

Sunwolves have been a lot more competitive this season. They still struggle on the road but they've actually won games this season and have had several respectable losses.

2018 TV ratings and crowd numbers

What was the turnout at Brookvale because that looked pretty full.

Round 18: Waratahs v Sunwolves, Saturday 7:15 AET, SFS

I'd go as far as to say that there hasn't been all that much between the Aus and NZ teams this season. It's been pretty close for the most part. Much improved from last season.

Round 18: Waratahs v Sunwolves, Saturday 7:15 AET, SFS

Is Foley fucking kidding? He stopped chasing the fucking ball.

Round 18: Waratahs v Sunwolves, Saturday 7:15 AET, SFS

Do the Tahs have a kicking coach? Because if they do Foley's not spending any fucking time with him. Christ.

    Reds 2018

Hate to lose him. Hey, if he wants out of the Reds I'm sure the Tahs would be more than happy to give him a shot. We have a wing spot open next season.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

We cannot even hold onto the assumption that if for nothing else that maintaining the current brand identities is all that worthwhile any more. Such is the damage. I'd love for RA to get really brave with the NRC and shift it's window further back until after the NRL and AFL finals series and...
