    Rugby News from unexpected places

There's also this. Which I happen to know is missing a few interested locations. https://scontent.fsyd5-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/37227497_2127475647325242_8564172600769511424_n.jpg?_nc_cat=0&oh=45106138fb14e57208445c746517120a&oe=5BDB7D6A

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

True. But in 2015 it was sort of on the way. They have to travel out to SF and then back to Japan this time. Also, the Eagles are on a distinct upward trajectory.

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

Apparently RA and USA Rugby are in talks about playing a game in the Bay area prior to the RWC next year. Some suggestion of using the now abandoned Oakland stadium though it may be a little too big. Though California has the largest player znd Rugby supporter base in the country so may be...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

I've just read a little tidbit from a FB friend of mine that's well connected within MLR (he is one of Houston's commentators and it heavily involved with the team) that the interest emerging from Mexico is legitimate and in the form of the owners of Mexican Soccer Club Xolos de Tijuana who play...

    Rugby 7s general chat

I'm quoting my own post here but I have seen an few interesting things occurring regarding funding initiatives for the USA XV's teams in particular the women's team emerge on the last few days. A group of prominent US Rugby personalities have launched 'USA Eagles XV's'. It is in essence a...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I actually wouldn't mind the idea of Aus teams playing in two different competition providing that all Aus eligible players remain just that and the seasons are reasonably aligned. Perhaps we could see the Rebels move across to WSR and in the most ideal of scenarios a third Aus team join them...

2018 TV ratings and crowd numbers

Mate, settle down. It's a good number but without knowing what the average viewing period was it's a little early to declare it a victory. Especially in terms of being able to monetise it via advertising packages etc. I'm a fan of looking to use Twitter and other social platforms in the...

2018 TV ratings and crowd numbers

Would be interesting to find what the average viewing period was per view.

2018 TV ratings and crowd numbers

No idea. Edit: If I've read what I've found correctly they count a view if the video runs for more than 2 seconds and contains 50% of the video on the screen.

The Force vs Samoa game has had 142k views on Twitter.

The twitter broadcast has attracted over 142k views so far.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

That's the in season cap. There are actually three different caps. The first in a pre-preseason cap for the teams that start their training before the league's official preseason period. The second is the preseason cap and the third and final is the in season cap of $350,000. But I'm not...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

NZ doesn't want more derbies while we want to maintain them. Your solution would work if we look at Super Rugby as a two phased proposition. The first phase would be 12 weeks. We take our 5 plus the Sunwolves and either a Fijian or combined PI team. Could even base it in one of our cities. That...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

There's a way of feeling out whether it would be possible. I've been following the development of MLR over the past 18 months. Part of the bid process is the payment of a $1m bond payment and the submission of financial proving the ability to cover the costs of operations for 5 seasons. We...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

No one's pretending it would be as simple as just blonking teams here and there.

    Rugby 7s general chat

That's awesome. I'm hoping to see the Super W grow next season and beyond. Would love to see the likes of the Drua running a women's team in it and for it to become a double round alongside the remuneration side of the equation being properly addressed. Our 7s format is expanding from 8 to 10...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The timezone issue is part of the appeal of a AP based Super Rugby or the IPRC. There's unfortunately a level of disconnect within each market that needs to be addressed and moving more toward time zones friendly competition should help alleviate that.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The NRC is cost neutral. The money Foxtel pays to show it covers its costs.

    Rugby 7s general chat

Yeah, I don't see the appeal of it. Come play in our 4 team competition for 6 - 8 weeks for a little bit of money vs full time training and competing around the world being paid significantly more. At least for now. I know many NZ fans aren't overly keen for a Trans-Tasman competition in the...

And in what will be a win for the good guys. Charlotte Caslick will not be featuring in the NRLW. https://www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-union/union-rules-caslick-passes-on-league-to-focus-on-tokyo-olympics-20180713-p4zrcm.html
