I thought the new concussion rules meant if you suffered a concussion you were automatically out for a week.

Except they made just as many turnovers as we did. Actually our backrowers were horrible penalty wise, I think Fardy gave away something like 4 penalties. Hooper at least one costing us points, Poey at least one costing us points. We probably would have won with McCalman, McMahon, and...

I can't give you a bad example of the collision but I can certainly give you a good one. Within the first 3mins of the game England give it to Vunipola (apparently their most destructive ball runner) who is smashed back 2-3 metres by Pocock and Sio. That was a thing of beauty.

Sio did a great line on the inside in the first half. I agree more of that is needed. As long as their is support to clear the ruck. I get nervous every time a player makes a break or half-break we will lose the ball at the ruck. Beale would have been very handy in that game.

Is it really go forward that we need though? We had no issues spreading it wide and getting ground that way. And in tight I don't think the forwards were that bad into contact, I certainly don't remember many times we were caught behind the gain line. The bigger issue was securing our own...

Really interesting theory behind the early subbing. Great post ExiledinBorders.

DISCIPLINE! 7 god damn penalties in kicking range. Farrell kicked all but one. It's not just giving away penalties in the danger zone - it seems it's the speed at which we do it. Those stats indicate almost immediately after they have entered our half we give away a penalty. On a positive...

2012, 2013, 2014 he played the best rugby. He wasn't the same when he came back form injury. He got stuffed around with the eligibility rules.

Actually it is consistent. Consistently poor/average. Foley has never been reliable with goal-kicks from the sideline, or really anything on an angle more then 35 metres out. We have a history of missing touch-finders - To'omua, White, Cooper all doing this on numerous occasions. Not sure...

Wallabies v England in Melbourne, 18 June

He needed to be injected 2 years earlier when he was in fine form. If he can get his form back to that point then I have no doubt he'd be a good Test player. His 2 disappointing tests were when be was out-of-form. Tomane's injury came at the worst time too. He was in blistering form.

I think this is the most likely case. McCalman to come in and move bodies at rucks. I'd really consider Slipper in front of Sio too. Whilst I think Sio was a bit hard done by and I rated his efforts around the park in the first half I think if you have 2 games in a row of poor scrummaging then...

Pocock isn't an 8 either but he does fine at the back of the scrum. Gill is more skillful with his hands then Poey so i'd imagine he will do fine.

Wallabies v England, Sat 11th June, 8.00pm, Suncorp Brisbane

I agree better kickers across the park would give us a huge boost. But I don't think it was a MAJOR factor in the loss. it certainly was a small factor. We should have, and could won that game with poor kickers (the darkness is another story - we need kickers to beat them). Overall, it was...

Wallabies v England in Melbourne, 18 June

Hooper currently plays the 8 role in general play. So we don't necessarily need Gill to have "impact" at 8. Hooper and Gill can work. Gill to simply play Poey's role and disrupt as much opposition ball as he can. We lose a bit of physicality in contact but it's the most like-for-like option we...

It is bizarre we have such average kickers given we have the AFL and all the kicking coaches at our doorstep.

Dropping Hooper one the best test players in the world last year for Gill and Houston 2 relatively unknowns at test level is too big of a risk.

I agree. The kicking wasn't a factor in the loss. We were fine. I think Foley had one maybe two touch finders that didn't find touch. Which was very poor, but the general play kicking was fine.
