    Rugby News from unexpected places

WCR You seem to have your head switched on in these matters Should A Tours make a comeback? Obviously not for your USA/Canada/Japan/Fiji/Samoa/Tonga type Nations. But if, say, one of the 6 Nations sides was to send a second side to play a Brazil/Chile/Uruguay trio, or a...

Jarryd Hayne signs with Fiji Sevens

He was starting to look a good blindside for Bath before all the bullshit with the national side came into it.

    Rebels 2017

Rob and Sione sign contract extensions to 2019. I assume they're full contracts now rather than supplementary given the length. http://melbournerebels.com/2016/05/18/rebels-re-sign-local-australian-stars/

    Rebels 2016

Agree on both points. Leave Jack there, Mike back clearly helped on Friday. Straight swap Engo on for Crawford, Inman to the bench, Placid in the 23 jersey if fit, otherwise leave Kotaro there since Sione is off on U20 prep. Was nice to see the Rising getting pumped up again on Friday night...

    Rebels v Chiefs, Round 13, 21 May 2016

Looked a leg knock, the kind that would need a bit of ice and a bit of rest, stopping him going at more than 80% or so for the game, but not something that would keep him out long term.

    HSBC 7's - Round 9 - Paris

Tiny little team GB rant. Yes, Shug and Nayacavou are ineligible due to a lack of British Passports. Yes Fleming is too soon back from injury, and Wight is too slow given the quality of playmaker available. But James Johnstone misses out. And neither Jones nor Hoyland gets an invitation...

Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

And we thought the eligibility laws were all over the place now. At least it's a lot better now. Most recent one I can recall is David Smith I think, who turned up to the extended French Wprld Cup Squad and said, "hey, I played for the Kiwi sevens, is that gonna be a problem?". I'd like to see...

TQ should be back for you guys either next week or the week after, depending on if Glasgow make the Final or not.

    Waratahs 2017

Is alright mate. Steve is contracted for next year though, as are Timani, Jeffries and Cullum. Jones is off to Bordeaux. Alex Toolis may be a go, but the rumours are he's coming our way too.

    Waratahs 2017

Pat Cummins body can't hold up for T20 cricket, what makes you think he'd be up to locking at Super Level!

    Rugby post 2019

Ireland- Leinster, Connacht, Ulster, Munster Wales- Scarlets, Ospreys, Blues, Dragons/London Welsh Scotland- Edinburgh, Glasgow, Border Reivers/Caledonia Reds, London Scottish Italy/Europe- Treviso, Zebre, Rome based side, mainland Europe side Cuts down from 24 game weekends to 21 weekends...

Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

Scotland A caps count. Ollie Atkins is Scottish tied because of that. Wales (alongside South Africa, France, Fiji and 2 or so other Tier 1/2 nations) have nominated their U20s side as their A squad, which was a source of contention ~4 years ago, as Steve Shingler wanted to play for Scotland but...

    Rugby post 2019

The Pro12 is throwing around so many permutations. Italians talking about a 3rd Rome based side, the 3rd Scottish side is always in the imaginations/projections, the exile sides, mainland European and American sides etc. Who knows. I'd like to see some way to create 4 by 4 conferences, for an...

Jarryd Hayne signs with Fiji Sevens

Back to NRL. He'll play, he'll be OK, but the squads in such good nic and has so many options that Ryan won't need him, then he'll come back to NRL.

    Rugby post 2019

Fun stuff. Certainly France, England and New Zealand can probably play Mexican standoff with inbound and outbound tours. Other sides, well, not so much. Virtually everybody is in agreement that a Global season is best, I just can't see a way for both sides to lose out a little, I can only...

Gits is still injured as far as I'm aware.

    Waratahs v Bulls, Round 12, 14 May 2016

His concept of numbers both in the books and real life is farked. The wall is of a ridiculous height, the armies are enormous beyond belief, he made many characters too young and he said ADWD would be done within a year of AFFC. Other than that he's an endearing fellow in most of what he does.

    Rebels v Brumbies, Round 12, 13th May 2016

Kick was a good option, should hqve been a 50m thump downfield and along the tramlines rather than an infield grubber. Everything went to shit from there though.

    Rebels 2017

Suggested he good be a nice moneyball signing on the 2016 thread. Don't think he'd be in the 23 straight off, but he'd be a good competitor for Cummins, Jeffries and Rettalick, round off the lock signings too.

    Aussie Player Exodus

Ma'afu got sacked from Toulon. He's now the 2nd string tighthead at the Cardiff Blues. Digby moved to Japan after 2 or 3 awful years of form and injury in France where he's continued on that trajectory. Mowen at 4 when you've got Chisholm and S Timani overseas? Very odd and somewhat poorly...
