Wallabies v Pumas - Saturday 17 September, nib Stadium Perth

Timani just may surprise if surrounded by quality given that he has been around the group for a while and that last year he stated he was sticking around to try and crack the Wallabies.

Wallabies v Pumas - Saturday 17 September, nib Stadium Perth

It happened multiple times during the test, and to pretty good effect. The problem playing these two at 10/12 is that they are both relatively small. However they were both pretty good in defense and pulled off some excellent tackles. Foley normally does this but I was taken back watching the...

The set piece was pretty solid on the weekend and it gave us some front foot ball. We were lacking a big ball carrying back rower that could consistently get us across the gain line though. The tight 5 did pretty well in this regard, but no better than any decent tight 5 would have done.

Most likely Speight will not come in but we are really lacking in genuine pace out wide. Both DHP and Hodge have done a good job and have long futures with the Wallabies but probably not on the wing.

We are fine for 6s. Maybe Fardy comes back into the side this week? Either way we need our 3rd lineout option at 6. Timani is there as an 8. He plays there in the NRC and has done so in Super Rugby at times as well. In fact they should be playing him in the back row at the Rebs pretty much full...

I don't think you want two relatively inexperienced props on the bench against Argentina. Slipper should be starting in my mind but obviously Cheika and Ledesma do not agree. Smith is pretty solid on both sides as is AA. We are beginning to look pretty strong in front row stocks.

Changes for this game restricted to the bench or maybe a tweak in the starting side? How about starting Timani at 8 and subbing him at the half, and if so who starts at 7? Hooper I would guess. Pocock looks a bit tired. Who wouldn't be with the attention he gets from the opposition in every test?

    Wallabies v Springboks - Suncorp, Brisbane, 10th September 2016

Scored a grouse try that wasn't given though. It was a try every day of the week. There is little between Sio and Slipper in scrummaging. For mine Sipper is better around the paddock. His running and offloading game is exactly what we need to bring us up to speed and he is at least as busy as...

Scott Sio try.........no question, it should have been given. A front rowers try for the ages!

    Wallabies v Springboks - Suncorp, Brisbane, 10th September 2016

Just watched the replay, which is up on YouTube by the way. Kerevi did make some tackles but he sometimes takes the wrong option. I reckon he would be magic at 12 outside Quade as well. However, Foley played very well, his two passes to Strauss aside. He took the ball to and almost through the...

I assume it is because he had a double head knock just before leaving the field. Did not look like he wanted to go. This bloke is just going to get better with every outing. Same for Arnold.

I have not seen the numbers from this game but didn't he have the second highest number of ruck involvements in Bled 2 behind Pocock and a high percentage of those being effective? From where I sit it looks like he has a huge motor and just ploughs away for the full 80 in the tight.

    Wallabies v Springboks - Suncorp, Brisbane, 10th September 2016

Quade was good and did not overplay his hand again. He always looks better with a big runner outside of him. Either of the TwoKs would work or maybe Hodge. He and Kerevi will do well at the Reds. I would like to see Quade with both Ks and Folau giving him lots of options to put in holes. Having...

    Wallabies v Springboks - Suncorp, Brisbane, 10th September 2016

Kerevi defensively and at the breakdown has some issues. He held back a couple of times when TK would have gone in and secured possession or a turnover. Also not switching the ball to his outside arm to score the try was a basic mistake. Hopefully he will get better but he is where all...

There needs to me more emphasis on retaining players that may come into contention and forward planning on what our needs may be a realistic way down the track. We have several, or more, players overseas who are in their prime and could/would be in the Wallaby setup right now. There needs to be...

    Wallabies v Springboks - Suncorp, Brisbane, 10th September 2016

I think we are going to be much more competitive up front this week and our backs will have some time and space, a luxury they have not been afforded so far in this RC. It will be very interesting to see what they can do with it.

    Wallabies v Springboks - Suncorp, Brisbane, 10th September 2016

His initial clearance to touch was long and then he had two other kicks in the first half that found space a long way down field. All of our infield kicks had been going to hand in recent tests. He also had one so so touch finder from in the in-goal but it was his only average kick on the night.

    Wallabies v Springboks - Suncorp, Brisbane, 10th September 2016

Foleys kicking is inconsistent and he rarely gets distance and finds space as Quade did in the last test. However, Foley does have a pretty good all around game and no-one can doubt his commitment to the cause. His running and backing up game is good but he cannot find space for others like...

I really would have liked to see him at 12. Maybe we will get to see that sometime during this RC?
