Pumas vs Wallabies - Sunday 9th October @ Twickenham

Except that they are all short and we would get destroyed in the most important set piece, the lineout, and it certainly would not help our scrum either. It just cannot work. The old adage that a good big man will almost always beat a good small man stands true. There is rarely room for two...

I would be reluctant to start Timani and Houston together. We need a legitimate lineout presence somewhere in the back row. Mumm or Fardy fit the bill. There are also a couple of young blokes coming through that have done well in the NRC recently.

Pumas vs Wallabies - Sunday 9th October @ Twickenham

Yes, Timani was solid. No big runs or particularly big hits but he topped the tackle count with no misses, slipped into the row without a problem when Coleman was in the bin and linked a few times with the backs. A solid start for him. The big moments will come. Houston looked polished for his...

I take it the extra person on the bench"to be omitted" is two fold in that it keeps the opposition guessing and gives recognition to the 24th player who has trained well but is just not needed. I hope Arnold and Coleman go well together. Neither have played a full test match yet so we may see...

Timani starts at 8 and Arnold replaces Simmons in the second row as the only changes to the starting side from last week. At least that is what the Roar are reporting. Good changes but a relatively inexperienced back 5. Will we see a 6-2 bench?

If McMahon is out for the remainder of the tour then they should call in cover at 7. Gill for the tests that fall within the test window since he is already there would be a logical choice.

Kind of like Pocock for that RWC semi? We didn't make do very well.

Is it time to start Arnold with Coleman? Both good in the set piece and around the paddock. They may not have the legs for a full 80 but they would go well for the first 60. Start these two with Simmons or Douglas on the bench.

    Springboks v Wallabies - Sunday 2 October 1am AEST - Loftus Versfeld

Timani will certainly bring a hard hitting edge to the pack but the cocern will be if it is consistent and well directed. I hope so. Fardy in for Mumm is a no brainer to up the physicality stakes. Houston is also a good hard man and can help in this regard as well.

Houston will be match fit and seems to go very well against these NH types. Maybe on the bench this week to back up Timani starting? He really plays a typical 8 man game. Might be good for us to simplify the roles of our backrowers and get back to what they are supposed to be doing Allan A. has...

First thing noticed from those ruck stats is that we really missed Pocock big time. That's why Fardy must come in at 6.

As an aside I thought that Moore had a very good game. He carried well and was brutal in defense.

Simmons and Mumm are often cautious going into contact. They do not seek it out. In this regard Timani will help a lot, like McMahon. They love contact and take the ball flat chat into the teeth of the defense. After a while some defenders may become hesitant. Of course we want our ball carriers...

    Springboks v Wallabies - Sunday 2 October 1am AEST - Loftus Versfeld

I would bench Folau, move DHP to FB and start Niavalu. Let Folau watch the game from the side line and bring him on early in the second half. Kerevi has been one of our best at 13 and should probably stay there. DHP is making a strong case for himself and we could use some legitimate finishing...

    Springboks v Wallabies - Sunday 2 October 1am AEST - Loftus Versfeld

Others have been dropped for better performances in multiple tests. He is really lacking something at the moment. Maybe a move to the wing would be good? He looks frustrated and pressure is building on him to put out a decent performance, not a sublime one as we are accustomed to but just a...

Izzy and Quade do not gel. Foley understands how Izzy plays as does KB (Kurtley Beale). Cooper is not able to bring him into the game at the right time and/or Izzy cannot see the opportunities right now with QC (Quade Cooper).

Anyway, we will not be seeing him today, maybe next week. Glad to see Fardy back in the mix and this back row looks pretty well balanced.
