    Rugby News from unexpected places

Yeah, still company run but according to the guys I've encountered they'll be more emphasis on community engagement on their behalf. Well, that's what they are suggesting. The 8 team 1st Div seems like a solid option in order to help lift the overall standards of the Top League play. Interesting...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Not so much an unexpected place but I didn't think this needed a whole new thread. According to some Japanese based posters on another forum there are currently discussions on a bit of a restructure of the Top League. Things like removing the league from under the direct auspices of the JRFU...

    Global Rapid Rugby

There was some mention of interest from Newcastle, Western Sydney and Queensland in a recent article. A couple of EASt Coast teams would be great to provide the competition with a solid base of teams to start and build interest and support in the larger markets in Australia.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

True enough. Though RC has reinstated the Pacific Pride program for player 18-24 as a form of pathway to MLR for players in the West. So hopefully this can act as a catalyst for a group to push for MLR in the near future.

They aren't and there's at least another team and a half worth of Canadians running around in the other 8 MLR teams at present.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

The crowds have been going up in the last few weeks thanks largely to the cold weather in places like Colorado and Utah finally giving in. Stadium choices also effect attendance in some places. Houston saw a significant jump on their opening weekend at their new facility thanks to it's location...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Apparently there's some talk about a Prairie Fire (Alberta) team that might be in the works. But there's nothing official out there. Not even rumblings. Apparently there is some interest in a Miami based team as well. But we'll have to wait and see first. A big thing for the league in the...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Yeah, bloody horrendous. I know a few Sri Lankan born blokes and they are pretty upset about it.

2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

You wouldn't know how the Shute Shield is going ratings wise by any chance?

2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

Just less than 62k? Because even then from memory last season the avg was 54k across all Super Rugby matches so that a fair boost.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Would be but I guess it's up to them to take that risk.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Which I kind of hope does happen as just one game outside our time zones in Argentina every year is better than three and even then that would still be at breakfast time on a Sunday which is much preferred to the middle of the damn night.

    The Israel Folau saga

Ahh...the good old days, right. Pity society tends to move on. What may have been acceptable 10, 20 ,50, 100 years ago doesn't make it acceptable today. That's the world in which we all live. Like it or not that's not likely to change. In fact they are likely to continue do the current path of...

    The Israel Folau saga

Yeah. If he cannot distinguish the difference between the two then he probably doesn't want to. Ultimately, if Folau had posted a similar message but without the implicit mention of a minority group as he did this would be a complete non-issue.

    The Israel Folau saga

I never said people suffering from alcoholism didn't deserve sympathy but the facts are that a predisposition to something doesn't mean that it's fate as opposed to something that isn't a predisposition but an actual biological fact.

    The Israel Folau saga

    Why is that exactly?
  17. WorkingClassRugger

    The Israel Folau saga

Alcoholism is not something your born with and cannot alter. There are a lot of other factors that goes toward alcohol abuse than biology. I would know as there's a very long line of alcoholics down my father's line that according to your definition would all but doom anyone in that line to a...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I think if the Champions Cup was a realistic option we'd see them make the jump pretty damn quickly.
  19. WorkingClassRugger

    The Israel Folau saga

What other minority groups did he identify in his post? Atheists? Under such strict definitions of religiosity which are applied by many of these kinds of Christian groups anyone who identifies as not religious is an atheist. And according to the last census that equates to 29.6% of the...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The article mentions that the SA franchises want access to the Champions Cup and that the Pro 14 is only interested in SA franchises if they are offering their full strength squads including Springboks. I seriously doubt SA will be given the support needed to gain entry to one without providing...
