    Australian Rugby / RA

Well, depends on which format. Both Carlin Isles and Perry Baker were very raw coming into 7s and now they are two of the bigger names. It can be done.

    Australian Rugby / RA

There's arguably an even quicker kid out of Perth. Smashing records left, right and centre. Still only 16. Set the fastest 200m in the world so far this year running into a fair headwind a couple of weeks back. Apparently pretty good at the 100m as well. He'd be a good get if RA were ambitious...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

It's £10m/year. Which is around $18m/year. And I suspect part of the holding out from England is to secure a higher take so that could be more yet. I think they are more or less referring to the RA capitulation on the Super Rugby structure and the axing of the Sunwolves.

2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

Our ratings have cooled but are still being made look other worldly by the A-League. The 'Big Blue' has traditionally been a big draw for the competition.

    GF Super W – NSW v Qld

Back to back for the NSW Women.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

SOO is an event on top of an established professional competition. One that runs for 31 weeks. It's not the same as being the only show in town in respect to RL. Same with Horse Racing. There are actually many professional races in each state and an ever increasing number of big events.

    NRC onwards and upwards

Will depend on what happens with the NRC I would think.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The two need to work together. Bolstering one will help bolster the other but it's no mistake that the likes of the NRL and AFL with their plenty in terms of opportunity are the more dominate. We cannot go back. We must go forward and both can do that with what I suggested above.
  9. WorkingClassRugger

    NRC onwards and upwards

That's sort of my thinking. With the relative clear air we got in the first 4-5 rounds our ratings were quite good. We should be looking at making that a more prolonged and consistent thing.

    NRC onwards and upwards

The only other options would be to either look to get Super Rugby pushed forward to start a couple of weeks earlier and then tack this on at the back or look to run it in a completely different window. But for it to run in another window I'd prefer it to run as a one and a half or double round robin format.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

A couple of things. There's rumblings that the NRC is likely about to be ditched. So that could soon be off the table and as for the SUPER club derbies. Despite what the likes of Jones, Growden etc. may want you to believe there are not 10s of thousands of people showing up to this games on a...

    NRC onwards and upwards

Yeah, I don't buy that argument to be honest. Especially now both the Kings and Cheetahs play in the Pro14 throughout the Sth African summer which is fairly similar to what we get here. You would just need to ensure you're scheduling is correct and mandate water breaks for players.
  13. WorkingClassRugger

    NRC onwards and upwards

I suspect that it was set out to do both but when you do nothing to actually assist in both of those goals as RA has done then failure is inevitable.

    NRC onwards and upwards

Somewhat unpopular might be starting our season earlier. I know it would still be summer (which is a big deal apparently to some) but it could give us the necessary wiggle room. An argument regarding rest period for Wallaby squad members will come up. Well, they can have the entire month of...

    NRC onwards and upwards

If this were how it was to work out I would prefer to see it at the start of the season instead in the back end of it. Push to have Super Rugby start as late a possible and run the NRC or whatever this would be called run leading into it. Would give our team 7-9 weeks of Rugby before their first game of...

    NRC onwards and upwards

I've got no problem with an expanded Aus. Club Championship but certainly not as a viable alternative to the NRC.
  17. WorkingClassRugger

    NRC onwards and upwards

Any suggestion as to what will replace it? If anything.
  18. WorkingClassRugger

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Ideally, yeah. We'd have an Aus league. Problem is do we have the interest and more importantly finances to do it? Our only real options outside of Super Rugby will need to involve a level of international play alongside domestic offerings. I look at what GRR is looking to do as a happier medium. Games...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

That's a big part of why I'm interested in the concept. That and it's being set up in a much different way in comparison to Super Rugby which is hamstrung by Union machinations. It's primarily out to entertain and draw in mass interest. Now, that may take 5-10 years to really begin to see results but...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Part of me would like to see the franchises seek out GRR with a proposal for a 12 team double round robin competition. Open up the borders in terms of where players can play. As in as long as they play on GRR they are Wallaby eligible. Seek out private backing where possible and look to do as...
