South China Tigers v Western Force - Aberdeen, Hong Kong - 12 May 2019

Despite the score the Tigers were only 3 or 4 quality imports away from being really competitive. It's actually pretty encouraging for the future of the competition.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

That's certainly another option. One that makes a lot of sense as well. Newcastle has expressed interest in entering GRR. If they are serious they should be encouraged. Western Sydney would be another obviously. At least one of those two should be supported in my opinion. That way we could have...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Expanding the ACC would in time likely lead to just that. Assuming the same arrangement continues with it as with the NRC in terms of travel and accommodation this would provide the teams in the expanded ACC with the 4 or 5 extra revenue generating games a season against both local and national...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Sort of why I said whatever form it may take. I suspect it'll be either reorganised or re-launched as an expanded club championship.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Change the NRC (whatever form it may take in the future) window to Aug-Nov and that'd fit in my opinion.

    Shute Shield 2019

Western Sydney beat Souths today from the above post. Last v 3rd on the ladder.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Germany could be a bit of a dark horse. They are looking to align it with Oktoberfest and their Oktoberfest 7s event in Munich. Could be a bit of a draw for travelling fans.

    Global Rapid Rugby

Their clubs teams most notably the two from Krasnoyarsk have been in the case of Eisnei-STM and arguably so for Krasny-Yar the two best clubs sides in the European structure from outside the traditional nations. I would certain find these games interesting and they would benefit the Russian...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Disney haven't been slow in pulling their content off Netflix in preparation for the Disney+ launch later this year. They haven't pulled any of their content off Stan yet but that's likely to happen prior to that service launching here in 2020. So, there's definitely a precedent there. I'd be...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

For now. ESPN are also looking at chasing the rights to the EPL as well which will mean when they split from Foxtel to enter the market they' could have a fair bit of pull in regards to content.

    Global Rapid Rugby

No. A Russian poster suggested they'd be a good option. There's no one official suggesting they want in.

    Global Rapid Rugby

But the other time zones featuring the other teams aren't. While saving the Force may have been the original intent behind the competition there are other parties in play now and their interests matter just as much as the Force and Rugby in WA. Otherwise, why not just have Forrest help out via...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Quite possibly. It will actually be interesting to see where things go from here particularly when it comes to sports broadcasting. This appears to be a move on behalf of Disney to establish itself as the dominant streaming platform for sports broadcasting.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

ESPN or more accurately Disney are looking to enter the Australian sports streaming market via their ESPN+ property as year as November this year. They will do so with plans to target sports like Cricket and Rugby Union. ESPN already holds the rights to the US broadcast of Super Rugby and most of the...

    Global Rapid Rugby

Yep. GRR is supposed to be set up to take advantage of friendly time zones for the markets it's looking to enter and it shouldn't veer away from that. If SA wants to get involved then they can do a Valke or the like in partnership with a local Union. But no teams based in SA. I'd rather see SA...

2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

While they've clearly dropped off since both the NRL and AFL have kicked off they games involving Aus teams in Aus seem to be holding around the 60-63k make.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Okay. So apparently there will only be 1 Argentine team next next year to be joined by a second in 2021 while Catholica claim they will be ready to go for 2020. Also, there will be no more than 4 Argentine players in each of the other teams.

    Under 20 matches 2019

If the two non tries were actually caught and the Japanese 10 didn't brain fart with regularity it could have been a much closer affair. I saw at least three NZ tries come from those silly kick pass options. Japan looked good in the 1st 20 minutes. But once the lost it was always going to get ugly.

    Under 20 matches 2019

Japan were just outmatched physically in general play once again. Several of the NZ backs were bigger than their forwards. Even if they managed to keep their composure they were always in for it.

Asia Pacific Dragons v South China Tigers - Queenstown, Singapore - 28 April 2019

Did he give you an idea on how much? It's a short competition so anything close to a level similar to an average working salary is not feasible.
