Trial: Waratahs v Highlanders, Hunter Stadium, Newcastle, 14 Feb, Fri, 7:30 PM (EST)

I'd be inclined to say that a couple of those guys, Nonu and Hore, might have been the reason the Highlanders did so badly last year. The Hurricanes were pretty shitty in 2011 so the coach dumps the pair of them. Nonu goes to the Blues who finish 12th down from 4th the year before. Meanwhile the...

    National Rugby Championship 2014

At the moment I think we will lose about 8. I hope that a lot of them will be filled internally. E.g. Alby Mathewson will probably head overseas so Ian Prior will become the starting 9, and either Ryan Louwrens from the EPS (WA) or Justin Turner from the WTS (WA; if he can stay fit) will come...

    Western Force 2014

Fingers crossed Darwin and Adelaide will be able to pick up a few NRC games. Perth vs Queensland Country could be a good one in Darwin.

    Rebels 2014

I fail to see why. He doesn't have the height or bulk for a traditional 6. Not that this matters necessarily, but with two great options at 6 with Lopeti Timani and Luke Jones (assuming Higginbotham plays 8), it doesn't make sense.

    National Rugby Championship 2014

It's a lot for us to speculate on at the moment. It is really hard to say how many players will be out due to Wallabies duty, injury or because they have been released by clubs that no longer want them. The Force have 15/30 players off contract in 2014 and history says around 10 of those will...

    National Rugby Championship 2014

The Force will probably have 2-3 Wallabies out (of McMeniman, Godwin, Cummins, McCalman). The 2 marquee internationals will be elsewhere (CC/ITM). So we have to give up about 10 players? Easy. You can have Tetera Faulkner, Salesi Manu, Pat Dellit, Ed Stubbs, Chris Tuatara-Morrison, Robbie...

    Reds 2014

That looks like a desperate attempt to snatch the underdog tag, Hugh.

    Western Force 2014

Yeah it's a shame that we couldn't get better Pre-Season games. I think you'd get a pretty good turn out in Perth against say the Reds. I have a feeling someone said that the ARU usually contribute to the pre-season games and that they were holding out a bit this year. I don't think it matters...

    Waratahs 2014

There has to be some irony in Kearns being the CEO of anything.

    Fantasy Super Rugby 2014

There isn't really a good one as far as I know. I reckon the best way to organise it would be to check out rugby365.com. It's a South African site that puts out a preview of the weekend's games on a Thursday. The previews contain the player lists.

    Fantasy Super Rugby 2014

I'm an idiot- picked two Rebels locks and didn't consider that when the Rebels have a bye they are both out.

    Fantasy Super Rugby 2014

Yeah a bit of chatter would be good. Too hard to pick the primary Tahs kicker. Too many factors- I'd guess Jono Lance as McKibbin will probably be benched for Phipps and I think Lance is better than Beale.

    Reds 2014

You guys better be careful with Hanson. The Force and Tahs pushed pretty hard to sign him last year and I think he was pretty tempted. He's a better player than Fainga'a (IMHO) and should be considered 3rd in line behind Moore and TPN to the Wallabies hooker role. If he isn't starting more than...

    Brumbies 2014

Number of tries scored is not a measure of conservativeness. In the Bulls hey day they scored a lot of tries with a conservative game plan. The Brumbies played that style of pressure teams into a mistake and then pounce to great effect.

    Western Force 2014

Wasn't the Brumbies' UC deal a million a year also? It'll be interesting to see if they can sell on the remaining jerseys. I also wonder what a company would pay for a naming rights deal with no logo or if say one of our sleeve sponsors would fork in an extra 100k-200k for naming rights. Might...

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

I am talking about 2 or 3 players from South Africa. When I talk about players coming from the Western Force Academy those are players who are, or will be in the case of a couple of South Africans in there, playing in the local comp. Those are the players that this 3T competition is for. There...

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

I do not think Perth will need to rape and pillage anyone. Between those Super Rugby players available and our academy/wider training group, I think we'll be able to field a very competitive team. If we do any raping and pillaging it will probably be of South Africa (mostly likely Capetown) and...

We aren't talking about boundless scholarships. We are talking 5-6 a year and they don't necessarily have to be massive. Why would Universities already be giving away free scholarships unless they benefited somehow (i.e. Part of a naming rights sponsorship package)?
