Australia Vs. England, Twickenham, 2nd November 2013

This load of tosh is going to end up on a NZ team noticeboard somewhere, just to add to the incentive for them to give England a damn good thrashing (we all know how much England's upper class tossers love a good thrashing). I would guess that Lancashire's lads just wish everyone everywhere...

Australia Vs. England, Twickenham, 2nd November 2013

I agree wholeheartedly with this game summation. Maybe I'm a hard taskmaster but I want my team to win AND I want them to play collectively AND I want to see cohesive attacking play AND I want to see brick wall defence AND I want to see people hit the breakdown with accuracy and brutality...

    Long Term Combinations

Carter and Pyle would be a good option, not necessarily the best one but certainly not the worst. With Robinson and Sio we are not too badly off at LHP and if Anae gets in front of them all the better. But the elephant in the room is Tight Head Prop. Ryan's scrummaging is worse than Kepu's...

Italy v Australia, Sunday Nov 10 2013, Stadio Olimpico

Its Glen Jackson. The only thing that might work is if the IRB tell him he'll never get selected again if he's as bad as George Clancy. Even then its not a guarantee. All we do know is that the ruck will be anything goes. Since we do not compete at the ruck, Italy is the only team likely to...

    Waratahs 2014

I think I would have liked to see a video of their training where there was more evidence of low body height and leg drive. Were they told to do their wrestling standing upright?

Italy v Australia, Sunday Nov 10 2013, Stadio Olimpico

My understanding is that Simmons is out for two matches, back in time for the Irish. You'd have to think Fardy won't be playing the Italians either.

    G&GR MOTM - ENG v AUS, Nov 2nd 2013

    3. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) 2. To'omua 1. Folau HM: Fardy Cooper, Cummins and Kuridrani. The less said about the rest the better.

    Brumbies 2014

I'm not so sure that the Brumbies will have an easy time of it next year: They've got a much tougher draw than this year. They've got a lot of players on the EOYT who won't start training till early/mid-January and this will impact on their cohesiveness in the first few rounds. No one in the...

    Waratahs 2014

It is Cheika who I said wants a mobile lock to use in his gameplan. Super rugby is very different to international rugby! This is the Waratahs thread.

    Waratahs 2014

Way, way too soon! Next year he will still be the third choice lock behind Douglas and Potgeiter (who was signed as a lock, not a backrower). I think he'll probably start two or three games and come on after 50 mins for the rest as a super-sub. That program will develop him nicely and give...

    James Horwill stripped of captaincy

One thing that will happen is that Spiro will go totally ape! The man who brought down his beloved Dingo is made VC.

Australia Vs. England, Twickenham, 2nd November 2013

We saw what happened when Folau was put on a wing in Bledisloe 1. He was totally neutered by NZ simply because they directed all their attack down the other wing, despite having one of their stars (Savea) marking him. Folau needs to be closer in working off Coopers hip.

Australia Vs. England, Twickenham, 2nd November 2013

This is a really interesting team: Link is not afraid to take on a hard decision. Big Kev is going to be one very angry man on Saturday evening. Properly directed, that could be a really good thing. Our defensive lineouts with Kev, Mowen and Fardy jumping are not going to be very threatening...

    Lions Tour 2013

That's hard work just reading to the end, but the level of detail and depth of analysis is extraordinary. That's just gone into my favorites file - I'm looking forward to the analysis he does in the Ireland - Australia game.

    Waratahs 2014

My bad, I thought he was several years older - seems to have been around for a long time.

Australia Vs. England, Twickenham, 2nd November 2013

I assume that if Simmons is gone the only decent replacement we have that is not in team rehab is Sam Carter. Probably not as good in the lineout as Simmons but you would think he's close in most stats and way in front on workrate/effectiveness. But can we afford to send him over? We are...

    Waratahs 2014

I think that someone in the IRB will want the laws changed so that if you have Falefa in the front row you have to have Jonny Sexton as a lock to give the scrum balance. ;) Seriously though, I think Falefa will be a work-in-progress for the Tahs this year in the hope he comes good for 2015...

    2014 NZ Super Rugby Squads

I guess that just shows that NZ teams have a very poor opinion of some Australian squads. Looking at the two full squad members in front of him, I'd be guessing Ged would fancy himself to leapfrog both by the end of the season. He'd certainly be the best EPS hooker in Aus/NZ.

Australia Vs. England, Twickenham, 2nd November 2013

"Everyone gets two starts" is hard to achieve if you want Robbo and Kepu starting against the three best scrummaging teams as I do. You'll note that in my scenario Ryan gets one start and one bench while Alexander gets one start and three benches. But its a much better balance of workload than...
