    Waratahs 2014

On the site there are only 33/35 names and only two hookers. Unless there is another option coming out of the blue I think he's still likely.

    Waratahs 2014

Unless I missed it, this is the first official confirmation that Horwitz has been snared. Like just doesn't do it justice!

    Brumbies 2014

Who is head of recruiting in Brumbieland? First Ala'alatoa (think I missed an a there somewhere) and now McCaffrey. He deserves a bonus - they are both seriously good pick-ups. Foley, of course, doesn't even know what he's lost.

    2013 EOYT

Maybe the thinking is that Sio needs a full preseason in the gym and then a full Super season to help him take the next step up; as a front rower he will not peak till he's 25-27 and under Fisher he's in a good place. I very much doubt that he's not prominent in Link's long term plans.

Sorry. Always a problem posting before you read all the pages.

That's because our scrum has been munted every week since the third Lions test. There hasn't been one less than average performance from AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) in that time.

All Blacks v Wallabies, Dunedin, 19th October 2013

I know that too much is never enough (thanks Meatloaf) but I think Michael Hooper has played and will play too much top level rugby this year. He is bound to break something soon because he has to be getting fatigued. If I was Link this week I'd sidle up to Hooper and ask which niggling injury...

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

My figures are very back-of-the-envelope and I don't have access to ground hire fees which I have assumed will be cheap urban grounds ($200K for the lot). Expecting minimal gate income too. I'd like to think I'm close, but $1.5M would provide some level of safety margin.

And maybe they were just a little bit better than the keyboard warriors thought they were. According to the peanut gallery Mumm, Barnes and Tom Carter were the three worst players ever to pull on a Waratah jumper.

2013 CC Sharks vs Western Province

Paarl, Any clue why Malherbe is on the bench? Is Cilliers really playing that well? You'd have to say that the Sharks pack has probably got the edge. It looks like a really good game ahead, I'll be looking out for the replay here.

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

As I posted in the other thread, the costs will be at least $1M per annum. That can't come from the clubs and sponsors won't front that sort of money for third tier. So its either a sugar daddy or the ARU. That $1M sounds like a lot of money, but they managed to pay that to JON for his...

Jerseys; the good, the bad and the ugly

I agree Chiefton, the cuffs had to be red, to match the neckband. But what would I know? Fashion designers think bib-and-brace overalls make women look sexy.

    JOC (James O'Connor) Gooonne

I have to say that the longer it takes for JOC (James O'Connor) to make his decision, the less likely it is that he will stay in Union in Australia. Right now I reckon that its better than 50% that he will transfer to Europe in the December window and as every day passes the chances of staying decrease.

    Reds 2014

ITM form is decidedly ropey when assessing Super form for next year. It won't be an easy four but a close win is likely. I'd guess there'll be another two or three attacking bonus points coming the Reds way next year, which if you reverse the Lions result makes a projected 56-57. But not...

    Rebels 2014

Is that the same Dean Mumm who everybody said was half the Tahs problems the year before he left? You know, the one who most posters thought should never have got a Wallaby jersey and really deserved no better than Uni thirds? Strange how they can be that good once they're gone. Dan Parks...

ARU moves to kill off club player payments: A 3rd tier, club rugby and the $60k persuader

There is some real consensus developing in this thread with I think one issue that is dividing the contributors: Do you go with the top four Shute teams or do you create separate franchises? Can I suggest that if we went with a hybrid model by adding just one team to the mix we might cover...

    Good Refs and Bad Refs

But he was. Hardly got a big international after that and retired about a year later. He reffed the Super final the year of the World Cup. Kaplan was a special South African favourite. And everyone loved him except Australians. He returned the favour, especially if it was the Tahs.

Trials are GA so you just sit on the western side.

    Pumas v Wallabies, Rosario, 5th October 2013

One thing I know for sure - his defence reminds me of Campo, A LOT. When I first saw Campo he was something special. Over his test performances this year you would say Tomane was very inconsistent. One good performance does not a star make. He's way behind AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) and Speight and I'd pick Mogg...

    Good Refs and Bad Refs

On the basis of his last game you would probably put Owens above Joubert for top two. But one game doesn't make a best overall, you have to look at it over time. Joubers went into a bit of a form slump following his world cup final display but does seem to have picked up his form recently. Walsh...
