I agree with tahboy, you can't discount depth in a club. Having competition for spots is an advantage because, as tahboy says, you can make tactical replacements and also if the 2s are doing well, the 1s know they've got to play well or get dropped.

From my understanding the points system works like this; each team is allocated a certain amount of points, an oz schoolboy rep player is worth a certain amount of points, state reps less, et cetera. Not sure of the points allocated, someone posted the plan on this thread months ago. Hopefully...

Also, is the split round so that the colts can play it on one weekend and play the finals a week earlier?

Think that applying more sports science isn't the answer for once in a blue moon conditions. Probably smarter to have a second, warmer alternate uniform when the forecast says it's going to be cold.

They should look into what gridiron teams like the green bay packers wear. They play in consistently freezing conditions. Unfortunately for them They don't wear the heated calf length coats on the field. I too thought it odd they didn't at least wear long sleeves.

Can't comment on woodies colts numbers, but pretty sure the trial v wicks was cancelled due to the ground.

From what I understood from the podcast it seemed the academy was an investment in the future. They have to play club footy and Only if there are heaps of injuries will they be considered for a super rugby spot and even then, they super clubs could still go with something else.
