    Terrific post.

His goal kicking could use some work though

From the trials until his last game in seconds his work in the loose improved every week. At first he seemed like a big old fashioned pommy lock, im pretty sure I saw him win a line out without lifters. But as the season progressed he adapted to a game plan not really suited to his body type...

    Shute Shield 2013

I I totally agree with you there, it is a ridiculous situation. My statement was more about dividing the players amongst the other teams equally. The ones going to the non finals teams would feel dudded. And the cynic in me thinks a few may sit out their games "injured". That being said, the...

    Shute Shield 2013

As it stands presebtly It's pointless for a super rugby player going to a team that isn't going to make the finals as the overlap is only one or two regular season rounds.

You seem to forget that the person passing gets to show off his nifty spiral pass. Just kidding, used sparingly and well it's effective. Put in the same file the "deft" attacking stab kick

Any contracted super rugby players coming back for the finals?

Do you think beaulieu (however its spelt) would've been better served by a year or two in colts? I think schoolboy rugby doesn't prepare young players for the week in, week out grind of club rugby.

Yeah, it's got to be a hard juggling act being the coach. Probably right with the piggies. Seems we're playing three sixes and two sevens in the pack, so we don't have a shortage of loosies. Agree that Baldwin would add some grunt at the expense of Connor who would benefit from being the fetcher...

Take it you're being sarcastic. I was there. i think helliwell and Boileau both have pluses and minuses to them. But you could be right that the 2nds running onto the ball was due to him passing in front of the forwards. While the 1sts getting the ball flat footed was due to the young bloke. Its...

That's for the coach to figure out. Team above seems a bit more rounded. All I see is the 2nds hitting the ball from a bit deeper and getting on the front foot a bit more. For what it's worth, I think Baldwin for his ball carrying would be a start. Wakim for ford. Sppeechly in the team. If...

My opinion is Too many players falling off tackles. Too many players getting the ball flat footed. Too much lateral movement. Positives? Wakims try. The sunshine. At least 2nds showed coach Kelly there are numerous players worth giving a chance to.

Pretty sure wade was at marcellin. Owen finnegan, Bryan fletcher, Luke ricketson, brad and Matthew Burke (the centre, not the fullback) also attended the big WC on the hill. Not sure if those names add ammunition for the original joke, but some good players there.

Agree with macca. To much sideways movement of the ball, not enough respect of possession and like macca said too much trying to score from the first phase. Charlie wakim was a tryscoring machine in the 2nds with 3 of his 5 tries coming from intercepts.

Zeb did his knee at the aru academy, played 40 mins colts last year and a few trials at the start of the year. He was previously an 8 or 6.

    Yeah, he's been charging.

Could've done with browne's goal kicking yesterday. He didn't miss many in the 2s.

    Shute Shield 2013

Out of interest, any idea when the super 15 players from the franchises that didn't make the finals will be available for club rugby? And where will they be playing? I know a lot go to uni, just wondering where else.

    Shute Shield 2013

No idea is perfect. If the comp is based on a regional conference system then only one from (as an example) manly, norths, gordon and warringah could qualify. The other option is bringing back the arc, with clubs Feeding into broader regional teams. I don't know as much as most as to why that...
