    QLD Colts 2019

If you are on the wrong side of 40 as I am and enjoy reading the weekend papers, all the rugby results still get published in the Sunday Mail. They are in the back of the racing lift out under "results". Old school I know , but they are all there, including school rugby in term 2 & 3 .

^ Yep , plenty offered , not that many make it through to NRL. There was talk of limiting the junior contracts a few years back due to the mental health concerns of exactly that, not sure what the outcome was . A lot can change between 14 and 18.

    Reds v Brumbies

No footies allowed anymore, my youngest son lost a ball to security at Ballymore at the trial game against the Chiefs. Some new safety rule apparently. Had to leave it at the gate which was all closed up by the time we left. They were even knocking back small foam balls that couldn’t possibly be...

    Reds v Brumbies

The Brumbies are at risk of melting at Suncorp if it’s this fucking hot again tomorrow! Bit of a change from a chilly night in Canberra.

    Reds 2019

Thought the backline looked best with DP at 12 during the trials, but agree that hasn't been the case during the round games.

^ Maybe even favourites if they have 10 who can handle the furnace!

Guessing also lost to RL, does he has any form of contract? Maritz that is ...

Think the top 3 will be NC, BBC & TSS . The order could well come down to game management. On paper at least , TSS have it over NC in the forwards , BBC have a lot of talent returning and have dominated this age group since U15s. Biggest question mark over TSS and BBC is who is going to...

    Reds 2019

All of his high level schoolboy rugby , including Aussie Schoolboys , was as a 10. Colts / U19 NRC and Prem grade as a 10/12. Haven't seen him kick or his game management at a Super rugby level, but he is capable. Think Stewart at 15 will flick into first receiver regularly, probably more of...

    Reds 2019

Hopefully a case of good enough means old enough? I'm looking forward to seeing how he goes, saw a lot of him at 10 as a schoolboy and he is an excitement machine and a genuine line threat, hopefully transfers through. Big step up I know, but based on what we have already seen of him this year...

    Australian Schoolboys / Under 18s 2019

Andrew is the DOR at Churchie, the GPS schools in Qld are not supporting the Schoolboys pathway up here, instead seem to be going with the Academy set up. Might have something to do with that,

Round 2 - Reds vs Highlanders at Forsyth Barr

Brumbies also have Pasitoa arriving next year, another talented 10/12 that Qld hasn’t been able to keep. Lolesio is the same vintage as Petaia, they were the Aussie Schoolboys centre pairing in 2017. Would love to have seen Pasitoa, Lolesio and Petaia in a starting backline in years to come.

Qld under age teams regularly beat all comers at rugby, Qld have won the most U16 national titles full stop. Open Schoolboys is an U18 comp where Qld fields team that are roughly 50:50 17 and 18 year olds against other teams that are predominantly 18 and the results haven’t been great. This...

    QLD GPS Rugby 2019

Rugby First, As you mentioned the State Champs at Sunnybank has been a regular for a number of years , but not to pick the Qld Schoolboy teams. It has been used to pick the CSS team that then competes against AIC & GPS teams at the Qld Schoolboys trials. Do you know why the change...

^ top that off with a few of them in the Academy system across both U20's and U18's and you have some pretty fit and motivated 18 years olds . The boys who finished school last year and are in the U20's squad have been doing 4 x 3 hrs sessions a week since early December at an intensity level...

    QLD GPS Rugby 2019

Interesting lead story in the sport section of Today's Australian newspaper , Foxtel in preliminary talks to get GPS First XV rugby on the telly. Politically could get tricky, with all members of the GPS having to sign off on it. They interviewed the principal from NC and he didn't seem to...

Round 2 - Reds vs Highlanders at Forsyth Barr

He must have been the only one to come back from the Spring Tour having dropped weight. Might need to follow TT around the buffet to see how it's done !

Round 2 - Reds vs Highlanders at Forsyth Barr

The only way Kerevi at 12 makes sense to me is to allow Petaia to play 13. Otherwise Duncan 12 , Kerevi 13 , Petaia 11 and Sef/CFS at 14 with Hegarty at 15 . Guess we will know soon enough.

    QLD GPS Rugby 2019

^ My understanding that Qld schoolboys teams get selected from the State Champs at Sunnybank in May, no CSS team to then trial against GPS & AIC for schoolboys selection as in years past . If you want to play Qld Schoolboys this year , you need to make yourself available for the regional trials...

    QLD GPS Rugby 2019

No the QSS hold this championship every year at the same time to normally select the CSS team that then goes on to compete with AIC and GPS teams for spots in the Qld Schoolboys team. It normally wouldn’t involve any AIC or GPS lads, but as we have seen with the post from Jets , if you want to...
