    Australian Rugby / RA

The 'Working Class' aspect of my username is there for a reason.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Yeah, I would hope that if the likes of 10 got the rights they go the full Big Bash on it in regards to promotion and packaging. A much overlooked aspect to the fall away in viewership and even attendance of the BBL since moving across to 7/Foxtel is the minimal marketing that has been done...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

In an article in The Aus. (I don't have the link. I read a copied version on reddit) it mentions that RA are looking at potentially running a FA Cup style competition alongside the NRC from next year as a means of enhancing community engagement and maintaining the high performance aspect. It...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

New Zealand have enabled them by insisting they must maintain that contact with them. Which is what will inevitably occur yet again.

I think it depends on how it fleshes out. If it replaces the current structures then I don't see much actually changing in terms of competition for many of the club players. The traditional structures could still continue below the 1st grade level. If say Warringah were hosting GPS in the NCC is...

I'm pretty sure Slim has a quote of yours as part of his footer that has you categorically stating that Japan would never be a Rugby nation. Yet, here we are. A successful RWC and the Top League drawing crowds pretty every other Rugby competition in the world (either code) would kill for...

She receives an inordinate amount of hate considering that for the vast majority of her tenure she's performed well above what many would have expected. I could suggest why that is for some but I really don't want to get into that argument again. I think her performance has demonstrated just...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I don't think it'll be a case of clubs leaving. At least not for a while anyway. Certainly not in the 5 year period of the next deal. I suspect what we'll see either a restructuring of the current club seasons to single round robin competitions before the club championship runs in a similar vein...

I certainly give him credit for cutting as much of the fat as he allowed to at the time as well as getting the NRC up and running. Expanding the footprint of 7s and for at least trying to get the Junior Gold Cup to be a road reaching and inclusive structure. It is a pity his legacy will be...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I doubt we'll see each of the 24 proposed participants become professional. Nor do I expect it to happen across the board in the first 5 year period. A lot will be dependent on what each club does. Whether they seek investment or try to build organically. But the end goal should be to transition...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

It will certainly make or break a number of the participants. I think the goal should be to transition to professionalism. In which timeframe will depend on a number of factors.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

That's.........interesting. A above in my first comment I actually wouldn't mind it replacing both competitions. Nor would I mind if it ran after but I tend to think that's not really that revolutionary of a step which is needed for long term planning.

No question it should be Melbourne. Penrith would be a feel good stroy but truth be told they've never managed to create a competitive landscape out there. The Two Blues with this have a fairly solid opportunity to fill the gap. But they've just got to have the planning and ambition to do so.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Yep. This will be what they make of it. So with that in mind from RA's perspective they need to marketing the ever lover shit out of it. To the existing base and potential fans. Actually sell it. From the clubs. This is their chance to prove what they've been declaring for years. Time to back it...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Yeah. I'd prefer it if a Perth based club or team was included.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I'm probably in the minority here but I actually would like to see that. Two divisions of 12 teams. Would mean there would be room for teams from Canberra, Melbourne and Perth.

Whichever model that would be the most competitive should be the one used in my opinion.

Perhaps a little insight as to what RA has planned for the NRC or more specifically a replacement via https://www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-union/deal-for-rugby-australia-to-buy-shute-shield-rights-imminent-20200210-p53zi6.html It mentions a competition between Shute Shield and Hospitals Cup...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Or GRR itself. Open up eligibility for players so that as long as they are competing in of the teams in GRR then they will be consdered for the Wallabies.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I'd imagine a primarily domestic based competition. A properly professional NRC in theory. I actually think we could do it. Certainly couldn't be worse than Super Rugby at present. Centrally contract the players while changing exactly how we contract players. No more top ups. Replace it with a tiered...
