He is not that deluded. The mail is that he will be expanding his Sky commitments. It is unimaginable to picture him running RA.

The official reason was that Hadley's slot was going okay, ratings wise, so it made sense to keep that and put Fordham into Jones' spot. One change instead of two. Makes sense, I suppose.

Geez, that hurts. That is a hallowed name in rugby history. Inaugural ARC Champions!!!

Yep. The introduction of modern technology was necessary, but very painful for the old practitioners.

It all depends, surely. There are some pretty capable people in the Murdoch empire, always have been. Some rogues and thugs as well. Newscorpse does not get to be the dominant force that it is just on skullduggery. They have always had some brilliant minds on tap. An old workmate of...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

At the end of the day it doesn't matter all that much. A little bit of controversy would be a good thing. Maybe the national selectors should be the arbiters (they can fiddle things a bit to make sure that there is as much equality as possible, without going over the top).

I doubt that the Storm organisation has ever had the goal of "expanding the playing base in Victoria". Why would they? They are a success on the criteria that count. They are winners, and they have allowed the NRL to expand its footprint significantly.

Maybe the problem is that we are built heavily on an ethos of amateurism. Our game is more popular in the elite schools, that is a fact of life. Not only GPS schools, incidentally. Most of our players, if not all of them, are expected to finish their HEC and go on to do some sort of tertiary...

    Wallabies 2020

Not in any of the teams I played for. Mind you, that was a long time ago. We did not even practise lineout work at training, I doubt that the average winger practised his throwing. It was a lottery. Talking about lifting, I remember when David Hillhouse was brought into the national...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

They used to, that is for sure. A long time ago, admittedly. But a tour to Australia by the GB Lions used to be a big thing. That was back in the days when our game was (officially) amateur, of course. Then of course the local game got comparatively stronger, and SOO happened (by...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

But they (or we) do not care enough, do we? That's the crux of it, for me.

    Wallabies 2020

Makes me yearn for the good old, bad old, days when there was no lifting. None of this calling bullsh*t either. Just heave it in, and go for it!!! And may the better man win!!!

Village idiot (That's Mosman Village of course). Or maybe Court Jester.

I have had high hopes for Neville right from the outset of his career. One reason was that he had been an elite rower, so his engine must be in the very top echelons. But I have a bit of a worry as to how he will go when, and if, he takes the field in the national colours. We never know how...

I thought the Reds looked better than "promising". They had a tough draw, and IMHO are our second strongest franchise at the moment. They are delivering. Yes, they will get better, for sure.

WA was not admitted until 1947/48, right at the end of the Bradman era. On the general point you are making, we certainly must maintain a solid cadre of good talent here in Oz. Whether we have enough to make up three, four, or five (or more) strong teams is a matter for conjecture. It...

    Australia domestic rugby 2020

Back to the future. My club, Eastwood is supposedly building its own home ground and this could become the Sydney version. Should be better than bloody Concord ever was.
