I could be mistaken, but I am pretty sure he has only played a couple of first grade games. He has played half a dozen NRC games. He came from League, pretty sure he was only at Eastwood for a season, but could have been two, lower grades mostly.

Well, here's the problem. We are now a professional code at the elite level. Like it or not, there is no way that professionalism can exist without being part of, and depending on, the corporate world. So to fulfil your long-standing antipathy towards the corporatisation of the game, we...

This is Australia, we love to knock tall poppies. I understand that. But the point is that the top players, in particular those at the very top, who could probably earn a lot more money playing in Japan or Europe, are showing a commitment to the national team and all it stands for. I would...

It has been fascinating to watch the transition from the days of the Dunnings and Baxters. We were all wringing our hands, now we seem to be able to hold our own with just about every front row in the world.

It is bizarre that some posters seem to think that the elite players are stupid, selfish, automatons. Some of them are tomorrow's leaders of the game (don't most of us think that the game should be oversighted by former players?) One thing we can be sure of, intelligent, motivated, and...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Makes a lot of sense. Will never happen.

On the probably correct assumption that they are working on the best professional competition, what on earth is wrong with a bit of self-interest? After all, they are the ones who do the work and earn the game most of its revenue???

There are 100 or so entities of one kind or another working feverishly to develop a candidate vaccine. But. The rosiest time frame that I have seen is closer to September 2021. And there are some that say there will never be a vaccine. There is more likely to be some medications...

Mixed feelings about the old Wildfires. I was living in Newey for their final two seasons. It was a pretty sad ending for them, there was virtually no local support for them, from what I could see. Only one substantial sponsor.

A bit late replying. There is some talk about another Wildfires entry in the SS. So we will see how strong they are, that is, if they make it.

I will have to think about that.

Well, I would not be so sure. A decision of this magnitude should certainly be brought to the Board's attention. But on the other hand, I cannot imagine any self-respecting CEO leaving the negotiations to check with the Board, or doing anything other than keeping them in the loop. At the end...

I doubt that she would have "rejected a much improved offer" without at least discussing her intentions with one or more Board members.

They come to play for Australian teams in the NRL because there are lot more Australian franchises. I assume the money is pretty good in the J-League. But it will be a very long time, if ever, for the quality of coaching in the average Australian rugby franchise to be on a par with that on...

I think that was tongue-in-cheek. Signing Latrell Mitchell? It is impossible for me to think of a worse signing. With all due respect to Latrell, of course. But I think he is much better suited to the other code.

It is a well-known fact that Rugby Australia has NEVER done anything good.

Apparently he did claim to have killed somebody. It wouldn't surprise me. The only surprise to me is that he did not kill one of the opposing team. Given that Tim was an absolute animal on the rugby field, surely that makes him a shoo-in!!!

Tim was born in 1930. I tried to find some evidence that he served in Vietnam, but no luck (just a quick look of course). Our involvement started in 1962, just a few "advisers", large scale involvement started in 1965, at which time Tim was 35. So I would guess he was just regurgitating stories...

I hope Rennie goes for a pretty lean squad, he will have his work cut out getting to know the players, and vice versa, better to concentrate on the likely lads and pour the work and the coaching into them.
