    Super Rugby Television Ratings 2014

That's a lot of Fox viewers who missed an absolute humdinger of a game. Are the 76K the total views including the replay later on Saturday night? You'd hope those watching Shute would pick it up on replay that evening. If that's the total number its VERY disappointing.

    Probably when hell freezes over.

Couldn't help myself. I'll have to try to be more restrained. BH's comment about Eales is valid. But once again, Eales was not an instinctive genius, he had to think out his game to become great. And that makes him a good commentator.

    Waratahs 2015

I'm still worried Will Skelton is getting rushed into test rugby. Its been an extraordinary run from bench Waratah player to test squad member. I would counsel leaving Cameron in colts till he shows a bit more of what his brother has. Lets wait and see what another year in Colts will do for him...

    Rugby TV Shows

People complain about Marto; I do too. But if I had to choose between Marto and Horan, I'd take Marto every time. Horan was our greatest ever 12, best player on the planet in 1999, but he is an opinionated nightmare of a commentator. Doesn't understand that if you are asking the questions in an...

    Rugby TV Shows

The only footage they ever show is of a couple of guys dong passing drills at jogging pace. They are so obviously staged its ridiculous. You'll see better footage in a warm-up before the game. I've watched a full Tah training session under Cheika. It was fast, brutal and almost at match day...

    Waratahs 2015

I expect that Crawford will go straight into 15 for the rebels and become one of their best players. He has serious talent, especially having a nose to find the tryline. That skill, instinct is a better word, could have been very useful this year. We've made a lot of linebreaks that have come to...

    Waratahs 2014

Now, now, don't be like that. He was my favorite player from that era. And he was the former try-scoring record holder for a season till Izzy came along. His knack of snagging intercepts was absolutely uncanny - I reckon half of his record was from opposition passes. Deserved a gold jersey that...

    Fantasy Super Rugby 2014

This can be a frustrating game to play! I have been selecting Foley and Barrett as my two tens for some weeks now and basically looking at the opposition and trying to forecast who is likely to score more points. Whoever I selected I made captain. The week before I selected Foley because it...

    New Zealand Rugby Team Watch

A squad of 46?? That seems a touch on the excessive side! Two full teams of 23, including benches. For some of them it will be a very cheap holiday.

    Waratahs 2014

If we assume that there are 40K good seats at Homebush (that's probably pushing it, I know) then the rest of them should be sold at $10 each so that we can fill the place. We still get $400K from those sales and the 40K good seats should top that up at least to the $1M mark, given that some of...

    Brumbies v Rebels, Round 16 2014

The Smiths are the Brumby back up props and they are very poor scrummagers. Until Ala'alatoa and ? progress the Brumbies will be very very vulnerable to starter props being injured. Mind you, Ala'alatoa would be available in three weeks time, but would he step up to Super level at tight head...

The road home - Super rugby 2014

Confidence can quickly become over-confidence but I'm starting to get a really good feeling.

The road home - Super rugby 2014

Well, the Stormers have done us a huge favour, and away too. The Sharks will be dreading their last round when away to their weekend conquerors. Unless injuries hit though you would suspect that they would get up purely based on desperation. Although you'd think that the Waratahs and Crusaders...

2014 IRB Junior World Championship – New Zealand

For Horwitz and Burton to be benched (Burton having played very well at Super level) the starters must be playing awesome rugby. Losing Staniforth is a huge blow, but given our potential I hope he's back before the finals.

Chiefs vs Waratahs - Super Rugby Round 16 2014

Agree totally with this. I think it is mainly fatigue causing the perceived weaknesses. I'd love to be able to put Genia behind the Tahs pack and make him play at Cheika-pace, delivering the ball as soon as its available and not running backwards to deliver. Would he last the 80? I suspect not...

Chiefs vs Waratahs - Super Rugby Round 16 2014

Or you could go Cummins and Beale. The wheel would turn full circle, that's where he started in the Wallabies. And he is deceptively fast. It gives us two attacking wingers, another at the back with a good long field boot and Beale/Folau works really well at the Tahs. Beale takes long range...
