    Andy Friend Sacked!

What a minefield that would be to wander into, and what a contrast.... The reds playing group at their lowest ebb were a bunch of youngsters lead by a couple of tragics who loved the jersey enough to soldier on through the pain, and who had suffered through a series of coaches without taking the...

I would have been better off not seeing it. There's my recommendation.

Fair enough WJ, you pretty much nailed the others, but Ioane was the only red back to make an impression and thanks to the structure and quality of the Tahs defence when he did get over the advantage line - and he did several times - it was while being smashed. One collision with Barnes caused...

Can only be that they think it is worth it for his general play. There is a paucity of effective carriers in the pack. Must be fractional at best.

Why Gnostic, sometimes I wonder if you bother to read my posts to the end. And Bruce when I read Gnostics post above and tried to figure out who he meant Carter was the first guy I thought of - not Dennis or Mowen. Easier for those of us without your acumen and proximity to see this year than...

Baxter we have done to death, and I for one wondered how we could pick him again just over a couple of years ago when he was whistled off the (international) park. (Edit: But then again how can you not!) Wasn't Kepu (and Baxter) injured late last season. Memory is foggy. Of others, some have...

    OK, who's injured?

There are only a couple of reds who have made any progress in my eyes this season so far - Ioane and Davies. One coming back from injury and showing his previous appetite for contact, and the second .... well, I thought he was a fast lightweight. Now he is fast, lightweight, but at least committed.

Agreed. The Tahs are obviously the best prepared Oz and maybe super side. They are bigger, faster, and superbly drilled in defence and attack, in every set piece. What an off season. Edit: Taking nothing away from the quality of the players across the park.

Interesting selections, and I like the way the reasons were included::).

Waratahs V Reds - Players of the match

Tahs 3. TPN 2. Horne 1. Douglas Seems unfair to split the other Tahs from points. Reds 3. Ioane 2. Genia 1. Beau Robinson

Burgess was superb. Genia looked like he'd taken a wrong turn and wandered in to the street in Pamplona, only to find the exits blocked and the bulls running at him. Which says more about the packs then his form - he was one of the Red's best.

If the Tahs maintain that form, the Reds (and the Rebels) will not be the only sides they smash this year. OK, here's where I betray my eternal optimism. I actually thought good, as the second half ticked on - the Reds have been smashed, and they have started to free themselves of what at...

We're two games into the season. But the Tahs pack is a great unit, and Douglas is going well.

It seemed to take forever before we saw one, and the Reds seemed to struggle with the cadence early on. And of course with the Tahs! The closest to competitive Reds scrum looked to be with Slipper and Holmes - though attrition was affecting both sides by then. TPN said mentioned on the sideline...

Rebels vs. Brumbies players of the match

Huxley was great. I just thought Gerrard and Cipriani were also great and more influential, and hey, better give the standout forwards a look too. Whatever Cipriani is doing in that late night training - sleepwalking, amateur bartending, protecting others from liquor through his own sacrifice...
