    Rugby News from unexpected places

No. I said they left the PRP for a short period. Should have been more specific I guess. They played in the Red River Rugby Premiership in 2018.

    Australian Rugby / RA

It's been evident for a long time now that they view it more as an extended trial system and not a going concern. Which has completely stunted it's growth from a commercial sense. I'd happily wlecome anyone willing to take the professional game seriously as a commerical venture.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

What will be interesting is whether they'll bring forward another bid to fill the space. Los Angeles and Dallas are still due to koin next year and if they want to balance out the league they'll have to look to find a 14th team. From what I've seen that shouldn't be too much of an issue. It's...

They did for a short period. Relocating to the Red River Rugby Premiership under the Merlins name.

I wouldn't welcome them completely ceding control. More just control over the professional arm beyond that of the Wallabies. I think RA main responsibilities should be the national game and the community game. Participation and the like. They should have a seat on any organisation that emerged...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Rumours of them leaving before season 3 emerged last November but they seemed to find the funds to compete. With the pandemic in place and the 3rd season being cut short they and being funded primarily by a small municipality within greater Denver they seem to have come to the inevitable...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Apparently been struggling to keep up with the arms race for talent both domestically and internationally. There's been a significant influx of financial clout since they initialised the MLR movement which they seemed not to quite anticipate and have struggled to keep up. They also seem to be...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Would also be interesting to see if HK could get involved. Would require a few weeks lead in for planning as they'll all have to get permission to travel here and then undergo quarantine. We could even set up a loan system for them in order to get as many extended squad players as possbile some...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

If things get to the point where we can look at resuming I'd actually like to see it in the Spring. A little clear air from the likes of the NRL/AFL and if possible a Bledisloe series in lieu of the November tour.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

That's why I offered two options. The second one would involve all 6 in this scenario meaning they'll get 15 games a season.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

As I've mentioned above it could work in two phases. The domestic phase and the international. Each looks to go to 3x6 teams domestic structure in the first plus finals. That's 12 weeks. Then in the second phase combine the three while including the three PI's and three other teams into a two...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I don't think we need to completely do away with the international element. But I tend to believe we need to make it less the main driver and more of an additional aspect adds onto the the domestic content. I would prefer it to either be structured domestic first and then say a Super 6...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Where in the place we are largey thanks to our own incompetence and lack of strength in regards to planning and development. I wouldn't assume the role of a victim. More as someone who thinks the time has well and truly come that we look to suit ourselves more.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Actually. If we were to go down this route we could do away with the NRC and instead introduce what essentially would be a 'reserve' grade competition running alongside it. Similar for a women's comp/

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I'd also like to see eligibility broadened allowing for Aussies to play for the HK squad while still being eligible for the Wallabies.

Dublin. WR (World Rugby) is based in Dublin.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Yeah. Ireland has the advantage of geograpghy being much closer than anything we have here. I think the goal should be to expand the current city based competitions by setting up a largely independenet 'Premier' division above the current set up and open up participation to Newcastle, the...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

NSW1 has won the last two Schools Championships and 6 of the last 10 with ACT winning in 2017, NSW 2 in 2016, Qld 1 in 2011 and Qldin 2010. You might be thinking of the U19 NRC.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Why would the three you mention stop tapping into Sydney and Brisbane for talent. Don't get me wrong. I'd very much like to see what you've suggested. We could do Sydney, NSW Country and Newcastle. I suggest Newcastle because at least from my experience in regards to the raft of family that live...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I tend to think we'll refine our treatment of the virus well before we get a viable vaccine in place. So we're looking at around 12 months of having to focus internally at the least.
