More the upheaval doesn't exactly promote stability and continuity.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I think ownership should be open to anyone who can meet set criteria. With the league being operated in a similar manner to that of Major League Rugby. Whereby the league administers the competition with players contracted directly to the league but via a set club. The goal of any TV deal should...

Not entirely true. Rugby League is barely holding on in Russia after being all but wiped out in the early 00s. While the Russian Professional Rugby League (Union) is actually adding new teams and seeing increased investment. The Baltics are one area where we've seen a fair bit of flipping back...

    Well, they've made their bed.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I think that's the direction Super Rugby should take post Covid-19.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

There would be significant structural changes in regards to how things are run for a domestic league to be viable. I agree using the Super Rugby/Force squads as a backbone is the most logical choice.

They certainly have served and probably should again a vital purpose in terms of talent development and identification. And they should be considered in the grand scheme of things. What irks me is the belief of some that the game only revolves around these clubs forgetting the subbies and junior...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

My issue has more to do with the structure and how it impedes any possibilities of developing continuity and therefore value in the competition. I would prefer to see everyone compete domestically separately and combine for a short Cup competition at the end.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Either the Sunwolves or the Lautui would be an option. Run a 10 week domestic competition with finals and I do like the idea of the 'Super Bowl' if possible.

They are. People are just wondering how competitive they will be given their current squad.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Been thinking about that. For it to work it would need to occur during the July/Nov. test windows. And I believe involve 16 teams competing not necessarily for the title of World Champion but to determine their annual ranking. To see how it may work out perhaps a place it could be trialled is...

The alternative is actually on their doorstep. The SLAR. They could really invest in placing talent right across that competition and looking at raising the standard of the entire region.

    Pasifika vs The Rest.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I'd say only scenario C would be realistic in the near future. I cannot see international travel being started back up until things begin to settle down. I actually don't mind C either. I would like to see the NCC carried forward regardless.

This is where a player draft would come in handy.

I'd be especially interested in the domestic competition aspect. My hope would be that it would return ratings at a level enough to convince RA and broadcasters that say an 8 team competition based primarily around Australia would be a more beneficial option for all concerned.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

It will actually be interesting to see who stays or goes. Players are centrally contracted to MLR itself so depending on their contract they may be redistributed. Certainly the likes of Boyer, Ranger and Ioane (assuming they are on multi year deals) will for sure. They'll still be able to put...
