    Refereeing decisions

Don't you think it's interesting that these "clear" guidelines are consistently being misinterpreted by onfield refs and TMO? They've missed 80% of red cards so far this world cup by my count. If WR (World Rugby)'s chosen officials are that far off, the problem is with the framework/guidelines, not the refs

    Refereeing decisions

Don't disagree with most of what you say, but think this is pretty naive. He was coming across to make a tackle with his right shoulder, with head behind the player, then had to adjust when the Fijian changed direction. All in a fraction of a second. At that point, at this level, for better or...

    Refereeing decisions

World Rugby have really tied themselves into a knot with these high tackles. They have effectively given themselves only two sanctions for a high tackle: 10 mins off the game, or Sent off, end that contest, 6 weeks suspension (which might get reduced to 3 if you're really really sorry) Seems to...

RWC Week 2 - thread for matches without a match thread*

Medium range high tackle (which is the minimum) gets 6 weeks / 2 for good behaviour = 3 weeks. There's going to be a lot of them

    Refereeing decisions

nah, they'll get 6/2 = 3 as well. Everyone starts at mid-range which is 6, even those like Hodge who are probably at the lower end of the mid-range.

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

I've been part of big argument about this before. Turns out the field of play is goal line to goal line. They should change the law!

It's pretty much Fiji B isn't it? The schedule is pretty tough on them

Fiji are completely off their feet with exhaustion One off runs, terrible offloads, keep coughing up miracle balls waiting for someone else to do it.

God I can't wait until the Hodge thing is over so Horan etc find something, anything, else to talk about

    Refereeing decisions

If neither of those two are red cards, we may as well get rid of the sanction altogether. If it's not there to protect people getting smashed directly in the head from a full force tackle, what is the red card there for?

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

If ref suspects foul play, he gets a couple of looks in the bbig screen to confirm it, and gives a yellow card for all cases. The duty judicial officer then has 10 minutes off the heat to review the footage to determine if it gets upgraded to red. If stays at yellow, after 10 mins player is...

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

No place kicks, all kicks at goal to be drop goals. The delays at scrum and lineout have been bordering on ridiculous so far in the world cup. I'd be much more stringent blowing the whistle for time wasting, eg no huddles permitted before a lineout

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

was thinking they might think about Foley on the bench as a reserve 15 and push Beale to a wing if someone needs to come off. Or put Nic White out there to cause havoc ala Bledisloe 2015

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

Jeez, making your international debut, for your first game in 6 months, in the world cup, against the number 1 team in the world isn't ideal either
